300TDI to LT77 will it fit?

Yeah, read a lot of posts saying that but none gave an explanation why,was hoping to just mate the 300 as it is if possible.

300TDI to LT77 will it fit?

Hello folks, long time no see,was wondering would a discovery 300tdi engine fit on to a defender LT77 gearbox? Reason I ask is i fitted said gearbox to my 2a not so long back but now the old V8 is on its way out and I've been offered a 300TDI for nothing, yes nothing!,so was hoping to pull the V8...

    series V8 adapter

Recently put a defender lt77 box and 230 transfer in my 88" 2a V8,its a tight fit but it does go. you'll need the series to v8 adaptor plate plus the modified spigot bush (input shaft spigot on the LT77 is same diameter as series),if the V8 flywheel has been drilled to take a series clutch all...

    What MPG do you get?

88" Series 2a V8,265/75/16 insa turbos, full cage, winch, rocksliders so a bit heavier than standard. Running disco axles so 3.54 diffs plus overdrive,20 mpg on a run at 65 mph and down to about 10/12mpg round the country lanes. The disco 300tdi auto does 30 mpg though lol

    big gay tyres

Disco axles are 3" wider each side so if you want big tyres you'll need arches ;)

    Sluggish disco.........not any more!

I tried the daddy screw and it made a hell of an improvement, only downside was it smoked like mad so I turned it back.

    heater upgrade

Some nice upgrades here but the only problem is series 2's don't have the same bulkhead as a series 3 so theres no hole in the bulkhead to fit the heater matrix  Anyway this is my upgrade, when I got the bulkhead for mine during the rebuild I couldn't fit the smiths heater because...

    Series 2a - Parabolic Springs?

I was advised to use gas shocks with para's because they work more than standard springs and if you go on the rough stuff for long periods of time the standard oil filled shocks can overheat and fail, can't confirm that as I've only ever had gas shocks with my parabolics.

    Series 2a - Parabolic Springs?

I personally can't fault gb springs, mine have been on for knocking on 9 years and are still going strong and I used pro comp shocks and the rears are still on!(fronts got changed for longer ones) Pros - don't need any maintainence at all apart from bushes when they go Softer ride...

    MM 4x4 Parabolic Suspension kits

I've had the same pro comps (+2") on my 2a for about 7 years with no probs and it gets some right abuse! But which ever ones you choose make sure they are gas ones and not standard oil filled ones, due to the paras working more than standard springs they recommend gas shocks as they don't...
