    L322 handling bad winter weather

I've driven Defenders, and mostly Discos, for decades in all conditions but I have never driven a RR in snow or ice or a combination. My thoughts are that they would handle rather well but it struck me that I should ask to avoid any surprises. Advice and stories very welcome? (Bet you can't get...

Disco 4 reviews by LZ owners.......any good?

My lovely neighbour is looking for 4x4 pre-winter and he's long admired my varied ownership of RRs and Discos and I've, perhaps wrongly, steered him away from the 3s (sorry @gstuart) but I wonder if anyone including Gary has a decent word or otherwise about the 4's?

Like a knee trembler but not quite.......

I think I've noticed a vague tremble on the front nearside for example leaving a roundabout to take a left turn and a slight acceleration at the same time. I say I think because it's over before it began if you know what I mean - just the vaguest of wheel tremble on acceleration at 20-25 mph and...

    Good mileage and Dead Cool..............

Recently had a re-map and today drove home from Redditch to North Yorkshire, admittedly mostly motorways, and clocked 34.6 mpg. Quite chuffed but I'm not heavy footed anyway. However - was overtaken by a big black car doing close on 80mph on the A1M, reg number G3 HTY. It was a hearse!....

    Conned by air-con!

It works, it doesn't, it's on, no it's gone.........three re-gasses recently, the dealer said it was a faulty valve and fixed it (he said) and it lasted a week and yesterday there just a hint of coolness about it (not much - more wishful thinking) so I'm wondering how cold it should be? I've...

    Through the Dales, running sweet......

The Rangie was running sweet so we went for a spin over the Dales for a cuppa. Small England may be, but what beautiful countryside there is - and hardly any traffic. A few pics to share if you don't mind - had to use my phone as I forgot my camera.

    Back on the Range.......

Had a few niggles after I purchased the Rangie and had a word with the dealer who said bring it back. Had a new power steering pump, broken valve repaired on air-con and spill rail minor leak now fixed: no quibble, good dealer sorted all and now back on the road. Oh how I missed...

The DiSkodery --- JLR move to Slovakia

Is this Jaguar Land Rover hedging their bets - the production of the Discovery is moving from UK to Slovakia next year, allegedly to make way for a new wave of Range Rovers, which from memory, we were told recently, are already selling fewer diesel cars than expected. Is this to do with Brexit...

What is Overfinch? Overdone, overpriced, over ???

Until I got my Rangie I was pretty much unaware of the marque Overfinch. Now I have a RR I'm not sure I can be bothered to be impressed by someones messing about with a motor I love already. Should I worry about my lack of concern? Does it betray my lack of education and breeding? Am I failing...

    L322 Leak 0ff pipe

Serviced the Rangie yesterday and told there's a slow drip from the spill rail leak-off pipe on one injector. Should I attempt to replace it myself? Anyone with experience done this? Or leave it to the garage?

Warranties - worth it or just a battle to make them work?

I'm sure there are lots if stories out there about the warranties offered by dealers: I'm picking up my motor from a dealer at he week-end and though he offers a warranty I seem to recall that the TV chap Quentin Wilson fronts an insurance company called WarrantyWise. I wondered if anyone had...

    Jump-starter as a battery charger?

I do not have a battery charger but I do have a jump-starter battery pack - do you think it may harmful to leave it connected to the battery and also leave pack connected to the mains to continue the charge or will I head to the shops tomorrow and buy a custom-charger? Just wondering whether or...

RR - tread warily or go for it?

I'm fortunate enough (this week anyway) to be considering a long held dream of buying a Range Rover and keeping my D2 td5 as a daily bus. I confess to being a little petrified but as my lovely lady's health is fading fast we have sort of decided to go luxury for what is looking like our final...

Fresh air in lungs - and suspension

Just back from a lovely run through the Dales, up through Masham, Leyburn and Bellerby and back via Ripon. Reminded myself once again what a wonderful air suspension there is on my D2 td5 and rounding bends with ease and comfort and then a stop for tea and a slice of vanilla sponge. A glorious...

    Lighten my way.....

I'm thinking of fitting (or having fitted) a couple of spotlights on the D2 so any thoughts on make would be very welcome: also would you have them slaved to the on-board fogs, separately switched, or the headlights main beam?

Air in fuel system - sorted

Having changed the fuel pump on the Td5 last Thursday, I was still having serious trouble in starting the D2. Eventually took it in to the local Indy and picked it up ten minutes ago: ignition seals replaced as well as filters. Like a new one now - vroom vroom............Who's a happy bunny...

Discovery 4 Cambelts - a reason not to buy?

Just browsing through some used Disco 4s and began wondering about cambelts and chains. One review suggested a cambelt changer at 100,000 miles but the cost was prohibitive and the job was complicated,. Has anyone any experience of this. I thought the Disco 4 was one of the most reliable to...

    New Fuel Pump Fitted BUT..........

Replaced the old fuel pump yesterday and now the Disco II TD5 starts after three turns or so. But it starts immediately after it's been running on idle. I have not had the opportunity to take it out of the back yard yet for a good run so I don't know if this is what is needed but after leaving...
