Hi, DM, Have, in the past used some very stiff wire and wd40 to pull the tube through an existing cable grommety thing in the bulkhead, sealing the slight gap created around the tube with silicone sealant. Did this on disco series one and also volvo 740td estate! Best of luck, paul s.

It May Be The Locating Pin At The Lower Steering Rubber Flange That Is Vibrating In It's Hole ! ! Tried Some Silicone Sealant On Mine And It Reduced The 'graunch'....... Might Be Worth A Try ! Ps.... Just Blown My 200tdi,will Post Repair Results Later This Week (hopefully)!
