Has anyone out there had experience of a noisy fuel pump on their Disco 2.When the gauge reads one digit from the red and well before the warning light comes on,it starts to make a dreadful whirling sound which can be heard from outside the car as well.As soon i fill up it stops,i know that someone will suggest not to let it go that low,but just wondered if anyone else has come across the same problem.2000 TD5 ES

Thanks Guy's

Hi,
Just back in the land of discovery !
Had same whirring, screaming noise from td5 fuel pump whilst investigating water in fuel warning.
The noise is caused by the pump circulating air in the system because the pump delivers approx. 4 bar continuous pressure.
p.s.
The water in fuel warning can be rectified by removing the sensor, remove center screw and flush out with 'wd' with the nozzle attached.
hope this is helpful.

Thanks for that Paul.Guess as it seems that i have no water in the system,it looks like i will just have to keep the fuel above that level.
Cheers again and hope you enjoy having another Disco.
