    White smoke on start-up

Interesting one developed on my 2006 TD5 over the last couple of weeks. She has been running fantastically for months and generally I've had no issues. When I start up on the key she fires after just a couple of turns. She will then idle okay. But as soon as I feather the throttle she coughs...

    Old Question... New Answers Please!

Thanks, I'm checking Craddocks for combos that might work. https://www.4x4tyres.co.uk/235-75-1...MI-_3V4df94wIVFuDtCh2e9Q7PEAYYASABEgJHwfD_BwE But I cannot find what wheels those are on the 4x4 link... no reply to my email either!! They just tickle my wibbly.

    Old Question... New Answers Please!

I do like the look of the Discoverer AT3s! And they are considerably cheaper than either the BFG or the GGs! Thanks for that tip. I really also like the wheels in this picture (droool....)...

    Old Question... New Answers Please!

Time to rubber up my 2006 Defender 110. Road use, with some minimal greenlaning during the summer holidays. I live in a very hilly town, and any snow whatsoever becomes very interesting without decent rubber. I like a nice tread that suits the Defender, but something a bit less extreme than my...

    Freelander 2

Thanks Nodge defo the FL2. That was available in V6 petrol yeah? I'm getting quite taken with them. The HSE spec is good for that age of car.

    Freelander 2

Funnily enough he did say the gas mileage was shocking! He averages about 16mpg round town which is only a few more that a V8! Thanks for the model info, but based on pictures pretty sure it's the 2nd version. Thanks for the feedback!

    Freelander 2

Hello Everybody, I've posted this in the general section as I'd really appreciate views from all Landy people who've ever had or thought about this member of the LR family. I need a second car which is big enough for two kids and a big dog, but small enough for the missus to drive without...

    Cleaning TD5 injector plugs

So I changed the loom. No problem at all, although the multi plug connector is tricky to get home. A bit more cleaning and she clicked nice and tight. Here's the thing: I started her and went for a drive, and she seems to run smoother and much quieter. Is this the usual psychological trick when...

    Cleaning TD5 injector plugs

Guys, doing the usual loom replacement on my TD5, but this is the first one I've done as my last TD5 didn't need it. If you want a laugh check the amount of gunk in the attached photo :-) A really simple question: the injector plugs themselves have quite a bit of oil sitting in them. I am about...

How long does your TD5 take to warm up?

Do you reckon it makes any significant difference to engine wear/life? I've found a 3-pin socket at the front of mine under the bumper, and I suspect it could be a pre-heater. Will have to post a pic because I can't find it on the web.

    Fitting LED Indicators problem

Also, check this guy out, it's a 1984 model 90: https://forums.lr4x4.com/topic/91851-led-indicators-fitting-wiring-problems/ He makes the point that because LEDs consume so little current, any earthing problems AT ALL - that is, even a slight earth leak, could screw it all up.

    Fitting LED Indicators problem

I'd say the quickest thing might simply be try a second flasher relay? Unlikely, but if it's faulty you won't fix it otherwise. Have you tried adjusting the pot fully both ways? May be that you can get them to flash properly, but without the trailer light at a different setting? Finally, maybe...

How long does your TD5 take to warm up?

Thanks, needle on mine doesn't reach half way either, although I don't think that really matters. Thanks for the blind comment as I was thinking about one of them, don't think I'll bother!

How long does your TD5 take to warm up?

Just wondering people... when I start up the 110 TD5 and drive off (mind I've only had her a couple of weeks and it's my first Defender) it takes a good 10 minutes of driving to get out of the blue zone on the gauge and 15 - 20 to get near the center. Is this generally normal? Just wondering if...

    Wheel Nuts

Exactly dag - I worked out as I tightened them down with the truck still up on the jack that the wheel was moving and centering as I tightening them down. As I've got the correct lug nuts, they very nicely fit the countersink on the wheel. Worth noting that the above certainly does not apply to...

    Wheel Nuts

I think the bottom line is that these wheel are obviously designed to fit a number of vehicles, not just the RRC and Defender. As a result the hole in the center will allow the wheel to also fit a vehicle with a larger hub. My question was whether that gap affects the load-bearing capability of...

    Bonnet catch replacement?

I was looking at a bonnet catch for my 06 Defender - part number STC925 is the genuine, I think. https://www.lrdirect.com/STC925-supplied-by-britpart-branded-britpart.html https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-STC925
