The picture taken from the rear pointing forward the part you are talking about is the rear folding step, and I am goin to pop outside now and take another photo from under the arch, I can honestly say I am not pulling the wool over anybodys eyes. I got caught with this car in the first place...

Hi Tom its the O/S rear arch, the MOT said it was near to the seat belt anchorage. They failed it for that and advised on the front out riggers having slight corrosion.

Use loctite and do not overtighten cause its an ally thread, believe me I learnt the hard way!!! Worst ways you will have a couple of bent push rods and maybe a snapped rocker lobe. Good luck
