Hi folks I have just took my Disco for MOT and she has failed due to corrosion on the body. I have to let her go as I feel I have spent enough over the past 2 years. She is to good to scrap hopefully someone can weld her up or reshell her.

She is a 1996 300tdi manual as stated above showing 187388 miles, please dont let the mileage discourage you as I will explain what I have carried out to her.

Starting with the engine I rebuilt the head with new valves and springs, new glow plugs, Head Gasket & bolts, full gasket set, decat & egr blank off, fuel pump rebuilt to the sum of £180 (Atlas Diesels). New blue silicone top Pipe and Turbo Elbows, New timing belt & tensioners, Timing belt housing and cover replaced, new water pump and water pump housing. New sump. She really does run sweet as a nut no smoking no rattles no knocks.

The chasis is sound as a pound no advisorys at all no patches just an honest chasis not painted or oiled. She has been poly bushed front to back on a floflex poly kit. she sits on new turret rings holding standard height super gas shocks and Heavy duty springs again poly bushed. She is a little stiff but handles a dream on the road and no sag on the rear when towing. Again accompanied by a super gas steering damper. She has had new timkin bearings all round as well as a full brake reline and a new caliper on rear, brake disc guards where replaced on the rear. New brake lines run on the front. I also replaced the brake shoes on the hand brake as this had got contaminated, but she will need a new cable.

The interior is standard XS all round but I wont lie the front seats are shot to pieces. I have fitted properly pioneer speakers all round where the origonals where. Not for a bigger punch but because the origonals where blown. I have removed the sub from the back door and put a chequer plate panel in.

At the moment she has a full chrome wrap around ball bar with small spots, also chrome side steps which have been repaired and a chrome ladder on the back door. I have the intention to remove these and sell seperatley. She also has A H/D steering guard under the front.

She is sitting on 4x General Grabber 285/16 tyres on XS rims and the spare is a brand new 285/16 bfgoodrich on xs rim.

All work and items listed have been carried out by myself over the past 18 months - 2 years.

I also have another discovery which is a V8 with 101,000 on the clock the body is very clean with not rot but the laquer has gone in places and the H/G's have gone. She is an ES with the usual refinements but the interior is very delapadated. And I have remove the bumpers and side steps but they are in the back of the car.

All serious offers considered I would rather they go as a whole but I am willing to sell accesories seperatley. I need them to still be rolling chasis as I dont have the space to make them immobile.

What sort of price ?
And get some pics on also what welding needs doing.
Are you sure the tyres are 285, on standard suspension that dont sound right.
They should be 235 tyres.

Apologies you are right, she sits on 235/85/16 Tyres. i knew there was an 85 in there somewhere. Pics are as follows, if you require more specific please ask. I know she is worth more dead than alive, like I say serious offers considered.

Hi Tom make me a sensible offer, I am in West Thurrock near Lakeside Shopping centre, 5 mins from junction 30 M25.

lol very good mate you just bought the fuel pump and ill throw in the chequer plate for the rear door. Like I said she is worth more dead than alive but i would rather she went as a whole. I have receipts for nearly 1200 in parts. I know I cant expect that but I need to get as much as I can. For the right offer I will leave the pioneer head unit and the thunderpole T1000 CB which is 3 months old and the extinguisher in her. If someone can weld her up she is ready to go failing that take the body out of the equation it is a bloody good rolling chasis with the suspension, poly bushes and the engine is sound.

Hi Tom its the O/S rear arch, the MOT said it was near to the seat belt anchorage. They failed it for that and advised on the front out riggers having slight corrosion.

hi Tom offers of £500 or above without the bullbar, ladder, steering guard, cb and head unit and side steps, I hope that sounds fair.

If you would like to ellaborate big lad! I can scan in the failure sheet for all to see and take some more photos. I would hate to think that you was insinuating something!

I would be delighted to elaborate. I didn't feel the need of an exclamation mark.

I'm not insinuating anything, merely posing the question. I looked at the pictures; on one, looking forward underneath, we see a component that has a rust hole in it; on another looking via the wheelarch you can see the chassis and what looks like a rust hole.

The picture taken from the rear pointing forward the part you are talking about is the rear folding step, and I am goin to pop outside now and take another photo from under the arch, I can honestly say I am not pulling the wool over anybodys eyes. I got caught with this car in the first place hence the amount of work I have put into it, but unfortunatley I cannot spend anymore money on her. I want to see someone keep her on the road. Like I have said I know she is worth more dead than alive but I cannot bring myself to break her. Bare with me 10 mins and I will get back with the photo's.

As for the photo taken from under the arch I cannot replicate it but judging by the angle and the way the light is shining into it I would say that the orange surface is the top of the spring hanger. I hope this helps.
