Defender stolen - Lower Beeding, Sussex

Ok let's clear this up. Roy's Rover has been taken from outside his home for a second time 17th April 2013 (first theft was January 2012). For all the negative thinkers who have assumed that he was just leaving the fate of his Landy to luck - you are wrong. Although there was no alarm fitted...

    Rear Axle MOT failure

Just want to say a quick "thank you" to those who offered me advice. I did as suggested and cut off the offending bit of rot, then painted with red oxide & black enamel paint ... Result was a 'pass' on the retest so I have that all important peice of paper for another year. Just got to sort...

    Rear Axle MOT failure

So, cut the whole piece off from diff up to the spring hanger? Treat/paint to keep the rust out. Sort out the other minor stuff (some I've already done) Take it back for retest! Many thanks for the help.

    Rear Axle MOT failure

Hi all Just after a quick piece of advice/confirmation. My '68 IIa failed its MOT today :( Other than a couple of minor things like the number plate light not working, it had failed due to "Rear Axle Beam distorted [2.5.A.5b]" The MOT chap actually said it failed because it was "corroded"...

Defender stolen - Lower Beeding, Sussex

UPDATE for those who are interested. Was talking to Roy earlier, Landy was found parked in a quiet lane in a neighbouring village about 6 miles away - pressumably left it waiting to see if it had a tracker? No damage at all, all locks including ignition all intact, suspected professional job.

Defender stolen - Lower Beeding, Sussex

A friends white Defender 90 was stolen from outside his house in Upper Beeding, West Sussex last night. Well looked after and tastefully upgraded/modified. Afraid I do not have many details at present - will post more as I find out. Thought I'd just give a warning to those in Sussex that...

    How many owners ???

Similar situation here but mines a '68 IIa. I'm the 3rd keeper, previous owner is a work colleague & he gave me a load of history (but sadly not back to the beginning, only about 15 years worth). He is also a friend of the family of the first owner.

    Clutch replacement

Thanks everyone for the advice and helpful hints. I'm planning on getting a full clutch kit. Woody has mentioned Dunsfold as a potential supplier. does anyone have any advice with regard to the better brands to get, or prehaps which to avoid?

    Clutch replacement

Yeah, I was planning on replacing the whole kit/assembly. My father has plenty of tools & mechanical experience so I'm rather hoping he'll have everything that's needed to do the job..

    Clutch replacement

Cheers all, looks like the floor will be coming out then. Luckily most of the bolts and fasteners look like they are in good nick, not too rusty or dogeared. The £590 was a bit of a shock especially as they advertised "clutches fitted at trade prices".

    Clutch replacement

The clutch on my 2a is starting to slip, I will replace it myself, with my fathers help, but he says the only ways to get to the clutch is to either take up the floor or remove the engine. Is this really the only way a clutch replacement can be done on my Landy? Out of interest I phoned a...
