If you plan on keeping the D2 long term then probably worth considering replacing the air system with springs. Pretty straightforward job, almost a 'fit and forget' solution ;)

Sounds like oil running down the injection loom into the ECU, the connectors will more than likely be soaked in oil. Common fault but easy to sort out. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/forum/land-rover-discovery.8/

Sounds like a bad connection, as suggested probably the earth and if I'm reading your speedo correctly it's quite a high mileage vehicle. In which case it's probably never been touched from new (or needed to be).

I've had 3 Discovery TD5's, all were great when running ok. TD5's are easy to work on, but do have complicated electrics so changing injector looms (for example) are part of the annual service, an easy enough job once you've done it a couple of times. I've changed gearboxes, transfer boxes, fuel...

I can't fault NFU Mutual, fully comp £112 per year (D2 TD5) though I did have a 6000 mile per year limit, sold the D2 a few months ago. NFU are very fussy about where you live and security you may have in place, but if you fit their criteria then they do a good deal.

If I were buying (which I'm not) I think a sensible starting price would be £7k, this will give you room to negotiate to around £6,500ish. Good luck with the sale ;)

When I had my series 1 back in the sixties, there were no locks on it and just a button to start it. In all the years I had it nobody ever touched it. How times have changed :rolleyes:

Just to update, the number 4 replacement injector was programmed in and the Disco ran perfectly. I have now sold the Disco and decided that 40 plus years of Landy ownership is quite enough. I now sleep soundly at night not having to worry what the next problem will be :)

Fair enough but I can't understand why it cost's £300 for a days labour and a tube of sealant, perhaps I should come out of retirement and earn in a day what I currently get in a month :D

I've now bought a replacement injector for number 4 injector and installed it, having noted down the code letters I await the man with the Hawkeye to come and programme it in. Meanwhile I've gone through all the wiring and checked/cleaned everything, there's nothing left to check or replace...
