Sounds like you simply drowned the clutch. I've seen it happen on other cars before. That's why old series landrovers had a fording plug in the bell housing....to stop that from happening......Thing is you need a few holes to let all the dust out.....but if you dip the clutch when its under...

Are they on the vertical , or on the horizontal ....ie on the side of the sunroof apeture or on the floor/lip where the slides are?

I don't need anything at the moment, its more a case of being prepared......& I Won't go to Lewis 4X4 ever......I asked them to quote for changing the timing belts on my dad's V6 Hippo and they told me to run it till the belts break as it would be cheaper that way????? Is that an experts view???

RJ, in the "how to" section of this forum, you can download RAVE which is the repair manual from Land Rover......My version which I bought from E-Bay before I knew about this forum also contains the owners Handbook......Download it, burn it to disk and you will have the repair manual and owners...

I often drive in the lanes at night, and at height adjustment 0, the lights are flat and really light the countryside up well.......if there is traffic and the road pitches up and down a lot, I can see that I occasionally dazzle people, so then I drop the lights down to setting 1.

You twist the light switch all the way, to position 2 and that puts on the headlights. to then switch on and off full beam, you pull and push the light stalk....when on full beam, there is a blue symbol showing on the dash. My freelander lights are set a bit high, so I lower them 1 notch on...
