2007 Disco 3 cracked oil casing at 35,000 miles

Hi all, I have just had the 7 year cam belt change and discovered that the oil casing was badly cracked and near to failure. This would have destroyed the engine methinks! Might be a good idea to fit the new design casing if you have an affected vehicle. some pics are here.... DISCO3.CO.UK...

Hi all, my Disco 2, TD5 will not start. I have noticed that when the ignition key is turned to "start" there is a slight (1 second) delay before the starter motor starts to turn. It has been this way for some time and I assumed this was normal. It started fine after the "delay" until today...

Advice from anyone who has a de-cat on a Disco 2

Harsh / rough engine above 2500 rpm in all gears - is it normal?

Hi all, my Disco 2, 2004 TD5 runs really well except for the roughness / harsh / noisy engine at about 2500 rpm and above. In top gear below 50 mph all is quiet and smooth but as speed is increased the engine gets quite harsh / thrashy and at 70 mph sounds like something is slightly out of...

How to set the injector cam? (Disco ll 2004) Desperate for some advice!

Hi all, I have recently had a new engine fitted but the old injectors were put back. I suspect that they may not have been fitted properly in terms of the setting of the adjuster screw. Apparently each cylinder is adjusted with he cam at the top and the adjuster screw is backed off half a...

Hi all, Discovery ll, 2004 TD5 (116,000 miles) - I am trying to sort out a "clattery" engine and I have made some progress but need some advice regarding replacement of the injectors. The engine is new (only 600 miles so far) but it has a bad diesel clatter which has been greatly improved by...

Just bought Disco 2 (54 plate) with new engine - boy does it clatter when cold!

I am the not so proud owner of a 2004 Discovery TD5 with a brand new engine (500 miles so far!). It is VERY noisy when cold - the usual diesel clatter just very loud. The car is slow to warm and there is a distinct diesel clatter (seems to be from one cylinder mainly although hard to tell)...
