    Electrical Problems, Locked Out

I took my Disco of the road at the end of last year as it failed its MOT with a rusty rear end. I replaced the back 1/4 of the chassis with a new section last month. I went to start it tonight to get it ready for its MOT but the battery was completely dead so stuck it on charge for and hour and...

    Disco 2 Bloody Head gasket??

A few months ago the engine started using water since it had done 140000 miles decided to take head off and replace gasket and rejuvenate head. Head was pressure tested, all ok, and was found to be straight but a light skim was done to take off gasket marks. All went back together fine (after...

    Pitted Cylinder Head

After my disco using more and more water over the lasts week a decided to change the cylinder head. Everything came apart well but after cleaning the head I noticed a groove/pitting where the sealing ring on the head gasket goes round the bore (see pics). Does the head need skimmed or will it...

    Heated Front Screen

I am getting my front screen replaced on Friday and have asked for a heated screen (currently not heated) how difficult is it to get the screen working. Is it just a case of fitting a switch.

My TD5 has developed some interesting electrical faults. Last week my wife said the right indicator was flashing fast, thought easy fix new bulb needed, when I tried the right indicator flashed ok until I put my foot on the brake and then just about all the lights at the back came on. Thought it...

    Disco tries to keep going

My wife has just phone to say when she got home she turned off and took the keys out her disco kept running (very roughly) and the light on the dashboard stays on. The engine stopped after a few seconds but the doors will not lock from the fob. Is there a problem with the ignition barrel?

    Discovery rumbling along

My discovery sounds like there is a wheel bearing away, as when I go above 45mph there is a rumbling coming from somewhere. I have checked all the wheels and there is no movement in any of them. Is there another way to check the bearings or could it be something else?

I have replaced a front brake caliper, as it was sticking, and was going to replace both front disks and pads but I do not have a socket to fit the bolt that holds the caliper carrier. I think it is a 20mm but can anyone say for sure? Also can anyone advise the thread of the bolt that is used...

    Buying and Discovery TDi300

I already have a Disco2 TD5 which my wife uses every day, but have been offered a Disco 1998 TDi300 for very little money (£400) which I intend to use off road. What should I be looking out for, in the chassis/engine department as possible problems ? Thanks James

    Overheating brake/hub

Last week my discovery TD5 (2000) rear passenger side almost went on fire, lost of smoke etc. I assumed the brakes were sticking on so cleaned up the caliper and replaced the brake pads and disks (both sides). But it was still getting very hot. After more investigation I found the bearing...
