    Discovery 3 auto box

Recently experienced the exact same problem with my 2007 Disco 3. So I thought I revive this thread. Probably posted somewhere else. Been trawling through the posts but I can’t find it. Mind you, I am not a computer expert, so probably not SEARCHING properly Any experts with a suggestion ...

    3.5 V8i oil pump won't come off

Hi all, Been away for a while, busy, got time now, I am back ! Hope the experts are still there And the problem this time is the oil system. Actually the oil pump. (got oil light on, oil level ok, engine sounds a bit harsh, could be the pump, decided to take it off, not too difficult I'd...

    Understanding my 3.5 V8 EFI

Took the V8 out today and noticed the difference ! Lower idle, nice! No choking when asking for more power. Better up hill Reacts nicely to accelerator. Less movement needed! Probably getting 1 or 2 miles extra speed when cruizing at 2750rpms (72 mph now and acually need to take foot off...

    3.5 EFI wont start

Can't imagine all plugs are duff. Should run on a few cylinders. Is the pump starting to run for a few seconds when you switch the ignition on? If so pretty likely its getting fuel.

with bat at 9V, would it crank at all ? It is a big beast to spin around.

    Fuel economy options.

Is it for FUEL economy, or general economy. My opinion has alsways been to just stay on petrol. Any installation for gas would, for me, take 2-3 years comstant gas use to earn it back. That is that the installation works perfect and no problem or additional service is required for your gas...

This 'll be the next phase. Need to crawl under again to find the return line and see if it's free flowing.

    Understanding my 3.5 V8 EFI

Today I drained/flushed the cooling system, fitted the new (BearMach is near) sensor and re-filled the system. Ran the engine in idle, nothing more. We'll have to see if it makes a difference. At least I understand my 3.5 V8 EFI a bit better now! Thanks. ps. the plastic screw plug on top...

    Understanding my 3.5 V8 EFI

Mine seems to run better cold than hot. Will check the temp sensor. Do these sensors either work or not, or can they also be in-accurate ? I was quoted £12 for a new one. Worth doing ?

    Understanding my 3.5 V8 EFI

Is this a Rover hot-wire ? Also from what I understand engine temp (coolant) is important for a proper working EFI. Does this mean that use of the correct coolant and quantity is important, or is it not that sensitive ? The Haynes Manual is not very specific.

V8 fuel tank and pump. One for the experts !!

I didn't see any springs on mine when I had it out. From what I could see is that the swirl pot was closed at the bottom, and filled from the tube on the LH side of the pic. As Noisy says the swirl pot is kept filled by the return line when fuel is low. Could that be at about a quarter...

    Understanding my 3.5 V8 EFI

Hi all, Putting my quarter tank starvation problem to one side at the moment, I would like to understand my V8 EFI a bit better now. Partly cause I ran it all day today and gave it some serious work with a large trailer and about 1.5 metric Tonnes on top. At the end of the tow somone...

The Quest continues ! I can now rule out the pump. In that light this thread is a success. ;)

V8 fuel tank and pump. One for the experts !!

Right. I have taken the pump out and cleaned the filter etc. Not much dirt in it. Still no clue why it suddenly started to fuel starve at qtr tank 6 years ago. Maybe I should empty the tank and have look in it. :confused2: Thanks for explaining the fuel tank and pump...
