The VCU on my 2000 Freelander siezed recently, this was followed by the pinion gear failing (I was lucky - this appears to be the only part broken - so far). Im now running 'mondo' with both the shaft and the pinion gear removed and a blanking plate where the shaft used to exit the IRD...

Theres a set of spacers ideal for my freelenader on a certain auction site. I contacted the seller to ask if they were hubcentric and he answered something like 'dunno nuffink about em mate, they were a present'. Now they're relisted on a buy it now at £149.00 or best offer...

Freelander needs new tyres soon and I want to go bigger to gain an inch ground clearance so will have to replace all five :rolleyes: So............if I calculate correctly.............. I fit a set of 30mm spacers to my Freelander, I should be able to fit 235/75x16 tyres with no fouling...

So.........finally collected it yesterday and took it for a run today, a 2000 X plate - 2.0 Xdi 5 door in anniversary metalic blue. It drums and drones at 70 (60 and 80 are fine) wanders all over the road, is an absolute slug, steams up constantly and is as refined as a donkey...

Just waiting to get my sticky mitts on my first Landrover..........a 2000 Freelander Xdi that Ive managed to find with a full (bar one stamp) Landrover service history. Its gonna be my weekender and toy. Found this site too and joined. Cheers Barry
