Can anyone help me with the correct way the belt goes round the pulleys for the water, and power steering pump on a 300 tdi as i went out and bought a haynes manual and found this to be a total waste of time! So if anyone has a diagram or can tell me how they go as i want to put a new water pump...

Cheers yella, dont spose you know how easy it is to do, do i need to remove the other pulleys to take the pump off, because it looks like to me that the bolts may not come out because the others are in the way, if anyone knows HELP me please! lol

I have a 1997 300 tdi, And today i heard a funny noise and when i opened the bonnet the fan belt had slipped off one of the pulleys which is at the top just above the alternator, I was only a couple of mins from home so drove it back and had a better look and by this time the belt had come...

Here goes lenny, If ya look underneath the car towards the rear, you will see the propshaft heading towards the diff, just before it reaches the diff you should see a thick black rubber round "doughnut" as they call it, It has about six bolts going through it and if yours is shagged it will...

Hi Lenny, Im not sure on movement in the rear axle, But the noise just suddenly appeared and when i had the rubber doughnut replaced it was knackered so took no time to ruin it! But i had it replaced by R.J HARVEY(landrovers) in rayleigh ,Essex and the part was 48 quid and with labour and vat...

Well it turns out it was the rubber doughnut between the rear propshaft and the rear diff. I was totally f**cked and had a new one put on today and problem sorted ! Cheers for the advice guy's.....

Sorry yella, but is it an easy job to do either topping the oil up or puttin molyslip in as i have a few hours spare tommorow so would like to sort this as quickly as possible as the noise is doin me head in ! lol

Errrrm i would say completely, and then as soon as you accelarate again it comes back.

I have a 300 tdi "p" reg and in the last couple of days a noise has appeared which is like a rumbling wirring kinda sound which happens when driving along and if i take my foot off the accelarator it stops, and starts when i put my foot back on the accelarator it seems more apparent in the rear...

there was no mesh in the hole, just a hole with a thread , so should i leave it open or put a bolt in as i just went out and bought one?

It's not actually on the sump but just in front of it, and in front of that is a wheel of one of the pulleys. I too was thinkin that if it has a thread then something must go in it! Think il take a walk down B&Q's and get a bolt to put in it just to be safe than sorry!

I have 97 300 tdi and while having a nose about underneath i noticed that at the top part of the sump towards the front of the car, near to the bottom pulley there is a hole which has a thread inside, Should there be a bolt or anything in this hole? Any help gladly appreciated ! Cheers guy's....
