    Front Diff needed - Rover

After an unfortunate off road incident in February involving the most horrific noises ever from the front transmission, I had to get recovered home and set about checking half shafts etc... So 4 months later, baby girl notwithstanding, I've finally found that the problem is the crown wheel...

The front half shaft busted regular thread - it's my turn!

Following an in situ engine rebuild in late 2009, all oil changed, chassis welded up and electronic ignition, I’ve had 13 months of trouble free ‘roving. She even passed MOT last month first time round, with only an advisory for a cracked tyre. My smugness toward Mrs Stoker’s modern car which...

    dodgy SIIA

It's been niggling me for a while, but I think my supposed SIIA is actually a re-registered SIII to get it tax exempt. My evidence is the wiring diagram (wire colours and components match an S3), wing mounted heater intake and and dashboard layout. The chassis and engine bay ID plates are long...

    Series 3 tyre pressures

I've had a good scout round and can't find a reliable answer, so can anyone tell me the what pressures I should be running front and rear road tyres at? I've had it since last year, and they're all different! Cheers,

    Speedo cable - which end.

The speedo stopped working, so I got a new cable. It worked for a few weeks and has now stopped again. The gearbox end of the cable which started life as a square section now looks a bit mangled, whilst I wonder if there is too much resistance in the speedo itself. So which end should I start...

    Ignition light mystery

It comes on when she fires up, giving me worries that I'll only make it half way to work, then goes out after a few miles. Any suggestions as to why, and how far can you get if the battery isn't charging? What actually causes this light to come on? Many thanks for your experience and...

    The perennial cylinder head thread

There's been a lot of useful info on these pages, which I've used for for my own Series 2A head change. However, I could really use some advice as I've a few problems: The original reason for head removal was to fit new piston rings as I had bad compression and lots of brown smoke. Cyl...

Help - my wife hates landys

OK Landy lovers, for several years I've been trying to persuade her to let me have a Defender 110 CSW, Early 1990s model probably. However, she's a frugal, eagle-eyed lady who doesn't miss a trick. I need hard evidence and arguments to get round the following: Bad fuel economy...
