    Front Diff needed - Rover

After an unfortunate off road incident in February involving the most horrific noises ever from the front transmission, I had to get recovered home and set about checking half shafts etc... So 4 months later, baby girl notwithstanding, I've finally found that the problem is the crown wheel...

The front half shaft busted regular thread - it's my turn!

Following an in situ engine rebuild in late 2009, all oil changed, chassis welded up and electronic ignition, I’ve had 13 months of trouble free ‘roving. She even passed MOT last month first time round, with only an advisory for a cracked tyre. My smugness toward Mrs Stoker’s modern car which...

    dodgy SIIA

Cheers fellas, It's just had it's MOT, and no issues were raised - I'm just going out to take a look at the chassis and clutch cylinder (cheers Fenby)

    dodgy SIIA

Cheers, Your right - it's not stolen as I HPI checked it, but I think it's probably the old tax dodge, and somewhere in a scrap yard is a knackered SIIA with a SIII log book! You aint seen me, right?

    dodgy SIIA

It's been niggling me for a while, but I think my supposed SIIA is actually a re-registered SIII to get it tax exempt. My evidence is the wiring diagram (wire colours and components match an S3), wing mounted heater intake and and dashboard layout. The chassis and engine bay ID plates are long...

    Series 3 tyre pressures

I've had a good scout round and can't find a reliable answer, so can anyone tell me the what pressures I should be running front and rear road tyres at? I've had it since last year, and they're all different! Cheers,

    OLD Landy Thefts

    s3 electronic ignition

You need the 'lumenition' kit. It's the best on the market, is easy to fit and works a treat. Find their website, and it tells you which model you'll need for an S3. Cost is quite high, but you get everything you need. I did it to my S3 last year in about 3 hours and it hasn't missed a...

Main gearbox oil fill - Series 3

It's OK - thanks for the advice, but I've managed to get the filling plugs out - I just needed bigger stilsons! Once my knuckle skin grows back I'll be fine. Going to use garden spray type thing to pump oil in when it arrives (found dire warnings about using API GL5 instead of API GL4 on other...

Main gearbox oil fill - Series 3

What's the best way to fill my main box with oil? The transfer box filler plug was siezed so I removed the little cover plate of the top and did it that way, but no such luck on the main. Any tips?

    Speedo cable - which end.

The speedo stopped working, so I got a new cable. It worked for a few weeks and has now stopped again. The gearbox end of the cable which started life as a square section now looks a bit mangled, whilst I wonder if there is too much resistance in the speedo itself. So which end should I start...

    Ignition light mystery

It comes on when she fires up, giving me worries that I'll only make it half way to work, then goes out after a few miles. Any suggestions as to why, and how far can you get if the battery isn't charging? What actually causes this light to come on? Many thanks for your experience and...

Help - my wife hates landys

By bodyy1989: i do find it funny that he aint been back, perhaps we scared him off. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No chance! :) I'm now the proud owner of a 1969 Series 2a. Constant badgering won the day - needless to say, Mrs Stoker...

    The perennial cylinder head thread

Well, Good news: All seems well, the oil and water left in the engine and exhaust seems to have burnt off, engine sounds good and it's driving nicely. Bad news: Just need to set up the carb (weber 34), but I think I have an air leak - it cuts out in idle and when you take your foot...

    The perennial cylinder head thread

There's been a lot of useful info on these pages, which I've used for for my own Series 2A head change. However, I could really use some advice as I've a few problems: The original reason for head removal was to fit new piston rings as I had bad compression and lots of brown smoke. Cyl...
