My old v8 had all but indicators in the rear wing mounts. The 300tdi has indicator and tail in the bumper - but having checked them all' all 4 in the bumper were 21watt. Not anymore. Thanks for your help everyone. Useless as I am at anything to do with vehicles I am now having a go at most...

Cool, that's got the bulbs out - from the bumper array. The 1 dead, 1 live looking bulbs are both 21 watt. Shouldn't tail lights be 5 watt bulbs?

Wish I'd read that before breaking my wrists getting in behind the jump seats :confused: Methinks it's going to be one of those days. Tried removing the bulb holder and there was a lovely loud crack as the outside of the unit cracked and fell apart.

Hopefully some time today it will stop raining long enough for me to at least get the jump seats out and prepare my hands for battle :)

Where am I likely to find the fuse? If it's easier to get at than the bulbs I'll check that first :)

Rear fogs, brake lights indicators are working ok, but tail lights are both out. Good job it was a friendly plod that stopped me on the way home last night. Going to get new bulbs this morning but is there anything else I should be looking at? Do they normally both fail together?

I got my loctite 243 (threadlock) from Halfords. They only do the little tubes but it was enough.

I think people who don't like 4x4's have never driven one or had a ride in one. Even my 88 year old mum in law thinks the Disco is great as it's easier for her to get into, carries anything she wants to buy and gives her a better view when travelling. As for the eco side, I'm sure many more...

Fitted a new waterpump and bottom hose. Doesn't sound a lot but it's the first work I've ever done on a vehicle. I've got a feeling the local garage won't be getting quite so much work off me now. :D

Lump of wood and hammer worked a treat thanks. Jeez that stuff sticks well. I wonder if I can swap some for the SWMBO's lipstick.

Trying to get the water pump off and it will not shift. It is only the gasket seal that is holding it on. How do I break the seal without damaging anything (apart from the old pump of course)? it's the red stuff on both sides of the gasket.

Ok... can I take the right hand part of the tensioner and the power steering pulley off to get at the bolts on the water pump? Is the spring on the tensioner exceptionally powerful as I could not budge it upwards at all?

Ok, so far I've got the viscous fan, cowl and bottom hose off. Is the tensioner meant to be moveable as I couldn't budge it to get at the left hand bolts? Can I just take the pulley off(that I think is the power steering one) to get at the bottom right bolt?

Thanks for the tip. I just dealt with a lady called Melanie there and had the code almost by return after letting her have a copy pf the v5 and my driving licence. She was also kind enough to tell me that there is an outstanding service action on my 12 year old Disco and to take it along...
