Thought i'd stop by and tie up this thread! Just sold our freelander after nearly a year and about 7000 miles. In this time i spent £20 replacing a worn diff mount. It walked the only MOT i put it through. Sold it for £400 profit :) Anyway, thanks for the advice - made any journey a constant...

Didn't expect any pandering and appreciate the warnings of the problems i may, or in your opinion will encounter. Just feel you could perhaps work on your interpersonal skills a little :)

That is the negativity i am talking about. Say you meet someone with a nasty cough do you immediately run up and tell them "Your lungs are going to fail, you should just keel over and die right now to save prolonging the agony" or do you just say, "thats a nasty cough, hope it doesn't turn out...

I dont mean to come across as touchy, just feel that it seems like 95% of people that have replied to my first 2 threads have been incredibly negative. I realise that there are inherent problems with this model and i may be looking to spend time and money on it at some point in the future...

I am aware that the MLS gasket isn't a get out of jail free card but only perhaps a slightly better fix. I am also aware that a HG failure is likely to end in a bill over £500, especially as when it happens i will want to have more than a straight swap done but it will at least it should go a...

Cheers! Yeah, I'm getting the thick skin part already :blah: After the beatdown i just took on my intro post and some further googling i decided to play it safe and upgrage my AA cover to breakdown repairs too. An extra £22.50 added to the cost of the car but got for a steal and covers 5 x £500...

Just signed up toady after buying a 1.8 the other day - if i had done things the other way around have done not sure i would be here! Anyways - the car has had a replacement HG some 30k ago and i would like to know if it was replaced with the improved HG (Goetze MLS?) or the original rover...

Yes it's a bit gay but it doesn't look too scruffy sitting in the street and the missus likes it! I do most of my travelling on 2 wheels these days anyway :) What are the welding statistics like on "proper landrovers" then? My dad had a 110 station wagon - chassis dissolved, He had a series 1...

Nothing major - just service items mainly. As i said above HG went at 81K, window regs - odds and sods. Jeez you're a bunch of doommongers on this site aren't you! :D

Thanks!:D It went at 81k, no evidence of trouble since. Maybe it'll go again, maybe it wont...meh!

Just bought ourselves an FL1, 1.8 on a whim :) Had a look around the FL forum before registering and hoping i haven't bought myself a big box of trouble! It seems to have been meticulously looked after and serviced since it was put on the road back in '98, stayed in the same household since...
