1000 miles done since the 15 thou head skim and still no problems apart from my bloody bizarre reverse!

When reversing and on dipping the clutch to freewheel back it comes to a stop with a feeling that the transmission is braking (not breaking). It doesn't do this in any forward gears. The clutch travel appears to be fine for gear selection Any ideas?

I want to remove the tinted stuff from the windows on my disco. I think its the stick on stuff. Any suggestions as to the best way?

I thought I'd keep everyone posted as to progress with the 15 thou head skim. 300 tdi 145000 miles 15 thou off after blown gasket warped the head. Early days yet but there are no problems after 250 miles. Water and oil levels are good. Less smoke on startup. I'll post you all after 750 miles.

Hi all. Whilst in the process of building up the 300tdi lump I noticed a bit of play in the bearing (approx 20 thou) when i held the spindle of the turbo. It didn't smoke when it was running before, should I worry?. I'm a bit nervous with these posh discos after having owned series 3's before.

I've just had my 300tdi head skimmed but had to have 15 thou taken off to make it flat again. Is that too much even with the thickest head gasket. Have any readers had similar amounts taken off ?

Hi all Can any one help? I need an injection pump casing for my 300 tdi because like a total prat I left a drill bit in the pulley hole, when checking the timing, and turned the engine over. Result, broken pump casing and a heart attack when I checked the prices for a replacement.:( :eek...
