Just did a bit more investigating. Watched a clip on youtube and the the blades to be swapped both have a black plastic square at the base. Is this the transponder or is it just to anchor it inside the fob? Cheers Rob

Hi Guys, I am having a problem with ignition barrel/key. Key is slightly bent and barrel looks worn. If I get a new key cut from the original blade can that then replace the old blade in the fob without coding. Cheers Rob 2003 td5

Not today, but only just had new oil intercooler, rad, hoses 3 weeks ago. So pretty sure that would've been picked up. I do check the plugs quite often as well. Thanks for the thought.

Hi guys, Got the car back last monday. After compression test bloke told me that HG was fine:D. The oil intercooler was the problem. Also needed a new rad. and he replaced all the hoses as well. I have had to flush the engine every day to clear out the remaining crap. It's looking good now...

Righto, thanks for all advice guys. Finally got in touch with a local landy specialist near me. He is gonna do some tests and then give me the bad news;). I have to say 'cos I have used him in the past he is genuine so I hope this ain't gonna kill me. I will update next week.
