I just disconnected the aerial, was fine for many years. I guess you could improve range by adding a small aerial, ie a short bit of wire.

You can not enter a code until the dashes clear and "code in" is in the display. Upon service of the head unit, codes are cleared so no code needs to be entered.

Press an hold the band button and should clear, if not leave it on for an hour,watch you battery though!

I have heard these kits work, if you ignore the whine and rumbles. Surely a standard with aux in for mp3 player and or DAB is easier. Keeping steering controls and with most phones, hands free. The problem is the balanced transformerless output that the Clarion used, still used to this day.

So that must of been an Alpine. I would be interested on the results with a clarion unit.

I ran without the aerial connected for years, no problems at all. Ok you had to be next to the rear door to unlock but that was it.

The clarion is a simple press of the reset, Maybe the alpine will have one, have you looked in the manual? The clarion does not respond well to a battery disconnect, much better to reset. For any clarion users, it's next to the flashing led below the volume control.

Not sure about the alpine but the clarion you have to reset when introducing a new cd player, with the new one connected. It can also lock up all functions!

If you had a high street unit working then you do not have the harmon amp and speaker set up, unless someone has bypassed the door amps. If you have bought a pu9836 then it can only work with the harmon amps. As I said before the pu9837 has a built in amP but no autochanger control, the 9836...

If you have any magazine issues, get a new one, no amount of twiddling will cure it. As for a cd changer dying, what was wrong with the original? In any case go for line in/ aux in for any mp3 player, then if the autochanger goes, you are fine, also most phones will give you hands free telephone...

Did the radio go off when the reset was pressed, it should. I have sent a message.

Remove the trim around the radio, it just pulls off, next to the flashing LED near the volume control is the reset. With the set turned on, press it in until it goes off, then enter the code. My guess however is that someone has tried to decode if the display is blank, not the end of the world...

The 9837 has a built in amp but will control the autochanger. The standard 9836 uses separate amps in each door and of course will also control the autochanger. Both units can have aux in fitted for mp3/ phone input/ dab.

Email a photo of the changer to [email protected] and they will tell you if it's the 122 cartridge you need 35£.

Is it the clarion unit? If so which model, they look the same.
