    Disco 2 isofix question

Looking at an early Disco II ES model (i.e. Td5, but actually it is a V8!), just wondering if it has the ISOFIX system in the back? Specs seem contradictory depending on which site you read and which advert! I can't actually get to see one at the moment otherwise I'd just go and look inside...

    P38 Snorkel News Flash!

Despite the name, my understanding is that the first 'snorkels' were more for desert like conditions to help get the air intake further away from dust (and sand!) to stop the filter from blocking up, rather than to prevent water from getting in. Though I wouldn't do it personally, I've seen...

    Best Oil For P38

Put semi in it. Fully synth is only really for modern engines and high performance stuff - anything else doesn't really need it.

    P38 steering

Are you saying that if you fix your hand at the 10 o'clock position, you can move the steering wheel all the way around until your fixed hand is in the 2 o'clock position without effecting any movement on the wheels? If that is what you mean, that sounds completely un-drivable?! Mine has...

    Centre Console Side Panels

It is not possible to reach up from the stereo cut-out if you pull the stereo out first? I can't remember how hollow it is in there, but might be worth a try! Matt

    P38 or Classic

Classic is much easier to customise for off-roading due to availability of bits. Plus the Classic has a 100in wheelbase and the P38 108in.

    p38 upgraded

These conversions make you realise how little the designers actually changed the P38 to create the L322. Matt P.S. Definitely persuaded it's time to sell the P38!

    Replaced my P38 diesel......now it won't start

Bit OT, but .. Is it my imagination or wasn't the BMW M51 unit somewhat redesigned for the P38 to cope with extreme angles re. oil circulation etc.?

    P38 Diesel oil cooler

Had exactly the same problem only the other way around - had to replace the cooler, but ended up having to buy new pipes as well after the threads stripped. £120 extra that shouldn't have been necessary. Bit of a bummer isn't it. Seems to be a common issue reading around. Matt

    remote problem

Procedure seems to vary between years. On mine at least I found that I have to use the key in the ignition then lock and open the doors from the drivers side with the key before it successfully re-syncs, which is not the procedure I found! Although if your fob locks the doors, then I don't...

    This is good condition?...

eBay 180407108559 Looks totally f..... to me! Hate to see anything he describes as average condition! Matt

    P38 Rear Pad replacement

Oops, never did that when I changed mine. Didn't have any problems tho! Surely that is only if you're disconnecting brake pipes etc though isn't it?

    abs/tc lights on

I agree, the ABS system does a self-check when you start the vehicle and drive off, so any fault should be cleared automatically rather than having to be cleared by the diagnostics kit, which suggests that there is still something wrong!

    p38 wheel wobble

If they came from a Disco II you've got no problems as it has the same spec as the P38, but I suspect if they don't centre accurately they probably came from an L322 RR / D3. Buy a set of spigot rings (loads available on eBay) and it will centre the wheel properly on the hub. Matt

    exhaust P38 where from

Because eBay are greedy b*ds and take a fortune in fees! I know cos I sell professionally on there, and it hurts! Used Island a couple of times recently, and both times they've been very helpful on the phone. I ordered via their website and they got both orders out to me in France within 48...

Fuel pump, How much pressure should it have?

How much of a pain was it to remove the tank? Need to replace my lift pump. Probably going to take it to the garage, but if it is easy?.. Can you do it without jacking the vehicle up or not? Looks like you can't. I don't think the lift pump is particularly powerful. If you check after the...

Just when you think you've got everything sorted...!

Think I'll take it to the garage!! Can't be bothered with anything that is going to be a real hassle to do, can see myself getting fed up of doing that job! Thought it would be an easy pull out, drop in job - which I suppose it is, once the tank is out! Matt

Just when you think you've got everything sorted...!

Anyone with RAVE able to tell me how I get to the lift pump in the P38's tank please?! Was hoping there was a hole in the floor somewhere, but can't seem to find one! Cheers, Matt

    Steering and whole vehicle vibration

Both my P38's have done this to varying degrees. Sometimes feels like the car is going to shake itself to pieces and other times smooth as you like. Personally I've found them to be extremely susceptible to wheels that aren't balanced spot on, although you say you've had a new set of wheels...
