    LR brought out new hose modification that moves the thermostat. think i remember it being mentioned somewhere on here. Anyway when i got mine HG done the price included that mod, new dowels, head skimmed and upgraded gasket set. 12 month warranty too. :p

    Just thought you say you changed the expansion tank last year? did you replace the cap at the same time too. if so is it the correct cap for the tank used. Earlier hippos have a different tank and cap to later ones. just a thought

    HGF= Head gasket failure. I know of no one who has not had to replace head gasket on a petrol hippo. I've had four and replaced them all just in case. 400-500 quid if your lucky and as the guys have said some garages wont touch them as repeat failures are common. Thats if the lump is not scrap...

    losing water also power steering fluid is milkshake

    water loss could be from the pressure cap on expansion tank. They have been known to fail meaning an escape of coolent and steam. its hard to see if it is leaking but hey at 4 quid for a new one its worth a try before you replace HG.:confused:

    have to agree with the other guys, had exactly same problem it was HGF. I paid 450 for job, that was including hose modification. Shop around and sadly you have joined the HGF club.
