    109 questions

When I bought my 109 6yrs ago it was fitted with a swb hard top with windows and an upper tail gate. The hard top fits straight onto a 109 with all the mounting holes lining up. There is obviously a gap between the bottom of the upper tail gate and the floor of the tub. In the case of the landy...

    Turner Gas Flowed Heads

Thanks for the info, I see Turner do a 9:1 head but have heard that reliability goes out the window above this. Perhaps this relates to petrol rather than gas. I also intend to fit electronic ignition any thoughts on whats best?

    Turner Gas Flowed Heads

Has anyone out there fitted a Turner Engineering Gas Flowed 8:1 cylinder head to their petrol engine? If so what do ya recon to the results? Seems very positive in the Turner testimonials. I intend to fit a head and lpg to my 109 as an alternative to the 200tdi. I recon this will give me more...

can you tell by the smell?

I checked out the Turner website. they recon the heads are 8:1 comp ratio and gas flowed. The testimonials look impressive, think Ill start another thread about turner heads see what the good folks online reecon. Apart from having a soft spot for petrol series Landys, going for a petrol with lpg...

can you tell by the smell?

yeah the extra capacity of a coiler would be handy but I can get by with a two ton limit for the love of my series 3. As a joiner handyman type of self employed person I lay concrete slabs for sheds and garages and if I need more than a couple of tons for a job I get it delivered. The extra...

can you tell by the smell?

I heard that turner stage 1 heads make sense in terms of better pulling power making the Landy a more viable option in todays traffic and when towing. I do a fair bit of towing. I also intend to go for an lpg instalation hoping that a combination of the two will be almost as good but more...

New owner jumping right in and after advice.

I thought about fitting a 200tdi but am now going to fit an lpg system to my 109 pickup. I get 15-20 mpg as it stands and as lpg is less than half price it doubles yer miles to the pound if not yer mpg. I also intend to fit a Turner gas flowed head which I believe makes a big difference to the...

can you tell by the smell?

Can anyone tell me how to tell a 2.25 from a 2.5 petrol engine. Is the capacity stamped on the block or is the 2.5 engine number the identifier?

    110 pickup

When I enquired about an Ifor Williams top for my 109 they insisted that a 110 top would fit. This would mean that the pick up beds are the same length. Given this info and the fact that landy parts are quite interchangeable it may well fit. Might be a plan to check that the wheel arches are in...

    Engine Dying (Petrol)

I had a similar problem with my 109. I replaced the coil, points, condenser, dissy cap, plugs and leads. The problem persisted intermitently. Eventually I replaced the fuel pump and now the motor pulls like a train, again.

What is the towing capacity of my 1971, 21/4 109

Does anyone know what the towing capacity of my old 109 is. I have towed 2500kg with a braked trailer but would like to be sure I am not over loaded. 2500kg seems to be a practical limit where i live in the Western Isles as we have steep hills with hairpin bends.
