What is the towing capacity of my 1971, 21/4 109

Does anyone know what the towing capacity of my old 109 is. I have towed 2500kg with a braked trailer but would like to be sure I am not over loaded. 2500kg seems to be a practical limit where i live in the Western Isles as we have steep hills with hairpin bends.

should be well within that mate think if my memory serves its 4 ton on the series landies (my 88" was so should be same for you)

3.5 tonne or 4 with close coupled brakes.

Haynes states;

Cross Country -- 1tons (1020 kg)
Road (unbraked) -- 0.5 tons (500 kg)
Road(overrun brakes) -- 2 tons (2040 kg)
Four wheel trailer with power brakes -- 3 tons (3060kg)
