    Block cracked, need new engine

The block on my 1995 3.9 efi disco has cracked so I;m after a new engine. I have my eye on a '94 3.9 efi engine out of a Range. Has anyone out there done this change before? Any lessons learned would be great. All the pulleys are in place on the new engine but I'm going to have to take...

    300tdi rear door speaker ????

I had same problem when i put aftermarket cd player in. I spliced the rear door speaker wires into the rear speaker input to the cd player. The speaker works now but probably not as it should be. I think the only way around this is to buy a cd player that has 5 input channels but I could be...

    disco door

Does it open if you pull the lock knob up as you pull the handle? If so, probably springs. If not, the mechanism inside the door probably needs adjusting. There's a rod mechanism arrangement with a thread adjustment. Either way, you need to take the door trim off and have a look.

    Gurgling water!

    Boot floor MOT requirements ?

The boot floor saga pops up every couple of months and every time it does, there's always some that say it's not an MOT failure. Someone even said they had repaired there's with marine ply! Every MOT tester that I've spoken to says the boot floor is a definite MOT issue. Mine failed on it...

    idles irraticlly on petrol.

Mine does the same from time to time but often it's after I've had some issue with running on gas. You running out of gas falls into that category so I would run it on gas and it may well sort it's self out. Sorry I don't know what mechanism is involved. Also, I've just sorted out a problem...

DISCO 2 V8i (LPG) RPM HUNTING

I have what sounds like exactly the same problem on my 1995 3.9 efi with lpg. I thought it was definitely an ignition problem but I have changed plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm and checked out the dizzy and vacuum advance and the problem is still there. Local Land Rover specialist says it...

I ran out of petrol but how?

May be a dodgey solenoid causing petrol and gas to burn at same time.

Rubber boot floor & track rod/drag link

I've put my rubber mats back in. Not convinced by the mat trapping water arguament as mine seemed to have rusted from the under side up. Re: track rod/drag link, I think you should have correct parts. I did mine in September, think they werboth RH thread.

    LPG and the law

There is no specific legal requirement to have it checked but it's a good idea to have the whole system checked somewhere with a good reputation that specialise in lpg to check the installation. Some of them can be poor even if they are certificated. Manufacturers recommend annual checks but...

    running cold

Sounds like static fan seized to me i.e rotating all the time, that's why engine is cold and the whirring sound is the fan turning. Start it from cold then immediately check the fan. If it's turning, it's seized. I replaced mine, 2nd hand £40 and took about 2 minutes to change.

    Misfire and failing to idle

Make sure the HT leads, plugs, rotor arm and dizzy cap are good. Also make sure the engine coolant is up to level.

Petrol or diesel Disco - and car seats?

Hi I have a n lpg disco 1 v8 which I love. It runs fine on lpg provided it's well maintained. Servicing of ignition components is absolutely essential as is keeping the water topped up as the lpg relies on hot water from the engine for vapourisation. LPG v8s are great but don't buy one. I...
