A good point - I do still look at 90 hard tops with a little envy...

We used the very recent arrival of our son to move from a 90 hard top to a 110 double cab - needed the extra seating space for the child seat etc.

My TD5 90 (no lift, 265/75/16 tyres) has fitted into the short stay multistory at Manchester Airport - it was a close run thing but it didn't hit anything, unlike the barrier at a viewpoint near Ullapool 2 weeks ago...

May be a broken connection in the wiring between the door and the body - it's apparently common in td5 defenders (happened to mine). Cheers Mike

Td5 Defender 90 for me (general day to day driving and for getting out and about a farm) and Freelander 2 for the wife (doors still on and not had to put a match to it yet).

Have you checked the loom that goes from the body to the door? I've got an 05 td5 and my drivers window stopped working a few weeks ago - turned out that the wiring for the electric window had snapped. Replaced the loom and all fine again. Mike

Apologies - mean't the wheels are heavier, possibly putting more stress on steering components etc.

I'm thinking of switching from my current 16x5.5 alloys to some Wolf wheels for my td5 90 - are they okay on a 90, what with the extra weight and all?

My wipers did the same thing (slowly ground to a halt) - ended up having to put new wheelboxes in.

I'd go for a disklok as well (very visible, easy to use and store behind the front seat) - I've got a medium on my td5 90. Mike

Hi all The windscreen wipers on my Td5 90 have decided to slowly grind to a halt - the fuse is okay and so I guess it must be the motor or linkages. Is it easy to access the motor behind the dash to check? Any tips gratefully received! Cheers Mike

Hi all I've found a small square piece of curved metal under my 90 td5 that perfectly matches a weld on the rear prop shaft, and is similar to other pieces of metal on the front and rear shafts - could it be a balancing weight? If so, will losing one cause a problem? Should I get it...

I've noticed the same in my new (to me anyway) TD5 - often difficult to read the dipstick with the new oil in. There was no sign of diesel or water in the oil, however, and it's now settled down after a few hundred miles and reads just fine when cool and on flat ground.
