That is the very comprehensive list to try! From my own experience (and having had the whole dash out eventually 'cos I was determined to find the hole), the vent seals were to blame. That's quite an easy one to start with and hopefully it'll fix your problem.

Earlier post mentioned Ashcroft. They are highly recommended (by me at least). You also really need to think about changing the txfer case input gear for a cross drilled one while it's all apart - maybe an extra £75 I think. There's a well known problem with pre x-drilled transfer case...

One other point to try would be to pump the brakes 10-20 times with the wheel off (but not the drum or it'll pop the pistons / damage the shoes). Then see how much fluid appears around the cylinder rubbers... if there's any fluid showing at all change both cylinders.

Apparently an XR2 heater core fits and is bigger / more efficient than the LR one. I haven't done it myself and can't remember exactly where the source was either!... but the donation of a fatter heat exchanger would seem a better answer than trying to stuff more air through something that is...
