Carrying spare parts in your Landy

Sleeping bag, food, water - for me.... Jump leads, tow rope (to help others :) ), bulbs, fuses, tools (socket set etc), coolant, 5 litres oil (engine), windscreen washer fluid, belts, filters (oil, fuel, air), plus the usual spare wheel etc. Probably a few extra's as I tend to throw useful...

    electrical smoke!?

Yes indeed, it is very true. Electrical smoke is very expensive, the more you have, the more you generally have to pay to put it back in it's containers (or buy new ones) :D

What have you done to your Landie today.

Dreamed of what I'm going to do to it when I get back home next week ;) Not that kind of dream ye dirty barstuards. I have to replace the rear hight sensors for the air system. The links sort of rotted away

    Land Rovers and L.A.

I was in San Diego and Santa Clara a few years back when they had snow the first time for something 40 years. I haven't laughed so much in years. They are totally unprepared and the drivers have absolutely no idea what to do with half an inch of snow on the road. People sliding off the roads...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Ride got a bit lumpy on my way home today. Found one of the air suspension ride height sensor arms hanging loose as the bush was perished. Bugger. Other side doesn't look very good either :( Ah well, more money down the Land drain. I love me Landy.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Just spent 2 hours under my Disco 2 getting to and cleaning the connector for the xyz switch on auto box. Didn't help :( Ordered new xyz switch, they are damn expensive these days. Should have bought one 3 years ago, they were 170 squids then, genuine Land Rover as well. Ah well

    Never thought i'd hear it!

Unless it's a v8 with all the leccy boxes and an intermittent crankshaft position sensor. 30 miles - stop - wait 2 hours - 30 miles - stop - wait 2 hours..... Nothing showed up on diagnostics either. Argh... Very frustrating (and long) night that was. Love me Landy's.

3.5 v8 on carbs petrol wont work properly

Should be a type/model number stamped on the body somewhere. Otherwise Rave may have the details you need, or, even a Haynes manual, though they usually tell you to "remove the engine" before you do anything. I would have a look at Rave for you but I'm away from home this week and I don't own...

Tape on the lights for France

I don't bother, just turn the headlamp adjuster to 1. How many French/German/Belgian/Dutch Trucks/Cars/Bikes do you see coming off the ferries with the lights masked? They're a rare breed that do. /Rant On Besides, it's really difficult to mask the modern lights that have the beams focused...

3.5 v8 on carbs petrol wont work properly

If you have a little mechanical sense (you've taken things apart and gotten them back together - working) then it won't be a problem. If you have no manuals for the carbs, make sure you take pictures as you strip them so you know where all those little screws, washers, jets etc go when it comes...

3.5 v8 on carbs petrol wont work properly

SU Carbs..... Ok, here's a little story. I lived for many years in The Netherlands (Holland) and they have been using LPG for donkeys years. One of the biggest problems with the old installations (pre-1990's) was that people used LPG as their primary fuel and petrol as a reserve. The car was...
