OK I have solved the problem :) It turned out to be a switch behind the Ignition the one the the ignition loom goes into. Its very simple thing to change just x2 screws. Apparantly this is a very common problem on early freelanders which is why last year you could but one from Landrover for...

I have a 1999 Freelander XDI 2.0l Sometimes when I turn the ignition key (after wating for the amber coil light to go out) nothing happens, after up couple of trys it turns over. The Battery is quite new so its not that. Any ideas anyone? Woody

Just done a search on google and I think the green fluid is Leak detector fluid that was put in the ststem last time I had a leak. The gas has probably already escaped through the split hose so I think I will just change it anyway! Kwikfit recharge aircon systems for around £40 so I am going...

I need to replace a Aircon hose on my 1999 Freelander XDI so I need to drain the system first but can not find a drain plug anywhere. Is there one? Surely the pressure should be released before I take off the damaged hose? Any advise anyone please?

Are they staying black or does it wear off over time from the sun/rain/snow? ie do you have to keep using it to keep your trim black? I cant seem to find it on google whats the proper name for it?

Yeah I've heard about the heat gun method, but there no point in doing that if they are supposed to be grey!

What! I never knew that!! My freelander is a 1999 XDI

My freelander bumbers and trims are very grey and I would like to get them back to black. I have tried Black Trim Wax and it looked good but as soon as it rained it all come off (3 hours of my life wasted)... Someone suggested Boiled linseed oil, so I tried that but it just made the bumbers...

Does anyone have a cure for my Freelander doors? Every time I open and shut them they creak like mad, its sounds as though your in a haunted house! I have tried WD40, Grease and oil but none of those worked.
