    non starting 1.8 freelander

Well after checking all I can without doing a diagnostic ( tried 3 auto sparkies who are all too busy for call outs), I re-did a compression test the engine was cold but no option. What a surpise No.4- 80psi, No.2- 70psi, No.1- 50psi, No.3- 20psi, explains why only No.4 exhaust was warm on...

    Diesel dilema

Hi to all I'm shifting back to the UK next year( over living in clean green NZ, yeh right!), I've been running a 92 Disco V8 for 5 years here. I found it to be a excellent all rounder, but think a diesel will be more useable back home. I've been browsing to see whats available on ebay etc, i...

Hello I am a newmember can anyone help?

Hi there It can only be Fuel or Spark, Take the coil lead out of dizzy cap put the lead on a spare spark plug hold the plug against the engine (with well insuated grips). If it sparks check your plug leads the same way. You may have to prime your carb with fuel if it's been stood for a long...

    New to site

Hi TPONZ, Welcome to the club, with regard to engine oil I read a tuning book for the rover V8 which said that that the oil pump is a high volume low pressure unit which is better at pumping a thicker oil than thin oil. I always use a good 15w/40 167,000k's no rattles from the cam yet.

It's quite difficult to diagnose, I did all the usual checks to see if it was fuel or spark at fault. Distributor broke, and again... and again

Heat is an issue, I belive early disco moduels were mounted by the dizzy then moved onto the dizzy (nice hot spot). so mounting it away from the engine helps as it generates it's own heat aswell, I mounted mine on a 5mm thick alloy plate after running it for a few minutes with bonnet open the...

Distributor broke, and again... and again

Hi My original 1992 module failed, it would cut out when idling! supposed to be a common fault with age and heat. I found a site which showed an ignition module upgrade (now gone) using using a chevy HEI module, which is then mounted away from the engine on an alloy plate to act as a heat...

Hi I had the same problem with my steering box, it would drip then dump then drip some more. Having moved to NZ,I was told the only place that could rebuild it was in Auckland at the other end of the country. So I bit the bullet and ordered a seal kit from land rover parts .com (all makes...
