L322 Rear subframe.... do I do it?! 😮

OK, so some of you have been tuned in that I've ended up with a bit of a project on my hands that has......grown. 2004 Vogue 4.4p which is in otherwise great condition, have had to strip out a lot of the rear end already to swap out air pistons and top arms. Given that this isn't a running...

    L322 Torque settings list?

Does anyone have (does one even exist?!) a fairly comprehensive list of the correct torque values for re-tightening? You occasionally find values for specific items mentioned or maybe on a YouTube but I can't seem to find anywhere that those came from. I'm particularly interested right now in...

L322 How big a job is it to replace the upper rear wishbone?

2004 4.4p I've noticed that there's a lot of rust and air where there should be metal around the hub knuckle and thinking this might be an issue (and not helpful for camber alignment either). As I'm replacing all the hub bushes, air bag and link rod anyway I'm thinking I should just get one in...

What size screw? Rear air strut

Hi all, Google isn't being my friend on trying to track down the correct screw/bolt size that holds the lower spigot on a rear air strut in place on the lower wishbone - I'm sure it's a 50p drive to my local fasteners supplier to get a pair, I just need to know the size and type. The originals...

    Supplier called CarAirSprings - legit??

Odd post but does anyone local to Leeds-ish happen to know if these guys are still in business? Reason for asking is that the phone number seems to be dead and not yet had a reply to an email. Want to check before I process an order for an airstrut! https://www.carairsprings.co.uk/

    ICarSoft - v- Gap IID

I'm about to lose use of my perma-borrow Autolink system, realise I'm knackered without a diags tool moving forward (MOT tomorrow!) Seeing lots of traffic about the Gap IID tool, which to be honest is more money than I'd want to spend at the moment, but the iCarSoft LR 3 looks like it does...

    When is EAS not EAS?!

Had a really weird one today out on a test drive after fitting new SAS (but before mapping the new replacement - just wanted to check the steering mechanics were all back together!). Air inactive along with HDC and ABS as I expected to happen, except, stop mid drive in a lumpy pull-in and the...

This has turned into a right old malarkey.....

I'm learning the hard way that when the L322 was designed, the engineering team at LR were smoking crack that day. It's like this.... ABS fault light will be an MOT failure so needs fixing Fault codes say Steering sensor is most likely to blame (also another reason why the air goes offline)...

Wiring loom for steering wheel adjuster

Would anyone happen to have any idea of the wiring diagram / pinouts for the motorised steering column adjuster? The one in my 2003 vogue has been toasted (literally - in a seat fire!) and I've always known that I'd get around to replacing it and the associated burnt/warped trim (might just get...

Air sunk to the stops / access mode after jacking

So having fought and won replacing all bushes and the link bar on the rear left, with the drivers side wheel also removed and jacked up, obviously both sets of suspension dropped to the maximum. Having replaced and done a short test drive (joy - it's a different motor entirely!) it's now sunk...

    L322 ABS / Steering issue

And on to the next issue.... ABS is temporarily disabled and Autologic returned a fault of 'steering plausibility'. Some quick googling and I can see that's not an uncommon issue and many reports of needing to change the sensor, which I'm pretty sure I can do myself. However, before I...

Fault codes and other joyous things

So whilst I wait for some new bushes (see other thread), plugged in a borrowed diagnostics unit to see what's up with the ABS. I was expecting to get a sensor error but instead got the message 'Steering Angle Plausibility' (temporary system deactivation). I then looked at the steering module...

Does this look quite right? L322 wishbone elbow

Obviously the bush is shot, and the lower one will be too, but does it look like the elbow has warped as well? Have yet to take the other side off to compare. I'm not going to mess about a do a job twice if it needs a new wishbone as well, etc.

Needed something to do over crimbo so bought an L322...

Hi all, and an apology that I'm probably now going to be bugging this place for a while for info! Live in rural west country and just bought a 2004 L322 (4.4 petrol BMW) as a winter emergency run-around. That I know of, needs new rear suspension bushings and sorting out an ABS fault which I...
