Like driving with the brakes on...

You didn't mention new discs... if that wheel station is still got after changing the caliper, chances are the sticking caliper from before has warped the disc.

    Freelander 1 Another bearing drone

Good morning chaps, Since replacing another rear wheel bearing, I've got another drone o_O . This one has gotten much louder much quicker than the wheel bearing and it doesn't seem to be as easily identifiable in terms of where the noise is coming from. The other thing that throws be about...

Freelander 1 Graunching noise under braking

To confirm, just checked pads and discs again. Lots left on both inside and outside pads. Discs have a very small lip but nothing that would rub on anything. The nsf disc does look to be a bit more scored than the os and of course can't check the inside face of the disc without whipping them off.

Freelander 1 Graunching noise under braking

Thanks guys. Pads and discs have both been replaced by myself in the last 8 months and checked again since then. However after a bit of reading it appears some people have complained about a similar noise only under hard braking, when they've had poor quality discs fitted. I changed the discs...

Freelander 1 Graunching noise under braking

Nothing at all. Here's a video I took earlier, it's hard to make out but just towards the end of the clip you can hear it. The sound comes across as it is, but it is much louder than in the video.

Freelander 1 Graunching noise under braking

Afternoon all, I've had a problem on my FL1 TD4 for a while that I'm still trying to pinpoint. There is a graunching sound whilst under medium to hard braking, sounds like it's from the front. Pads, discs, shoes and drums are all fine. VCU is a refurb unit from Bell only last month, the issue...

Freelander 1 Castle Acre Ford, Norfolk

That's just showing off... But I agree, had a few short ones there before getting married in the Church opposite not long ago.

Freelander 1 Castle Acre Ford, Norfolk

Have got a video but the upload limit is more than they allow. May stick it on YouTube later on.

Freelander 1 Castle Acre Ford, Norfolk

Yeah I knew it was going a bit quick but by then it would have been worse to slow and let the wave overtake. That Ford is still open as far as I'm aware. Nothing on the interactive map and all signage still points toward it being open. 'Ford - Deep water' rather than no access to motor...

Freelander 1 Castle Acre Ford, Norfolk

I've had my eye on this for years because its just down the road from my in-laws place but never had the balls to give it a go. It's deeper than normal so did a quick recce using my wellies as a depth tester... two wet feet. But it was either go through or reverse a mile back up the road. It...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Looks good, something I've been meaning to do for a while.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Today I extended the rear diff breather up through the grommet into the boot space and tucked behind the rear light. Also fixed the front mudgaurd back onto the inner liner after it got snagged on Salisbury.

Freelander 1 Creak from front end of Td4

Whipped the belly pan off this afternoon and after a quick drive it proves it was the source of the annoying creak. However all is well because it's now back on and doesn't creak anymore! (Yet)

Freelander 1 Creak from front end of Td4

That's the plan, ran out of time yesterday but will get done this week at some point.

Freelander 1 Creak from front end of Td4

Checked the ARB bushes but they seem fine. Definite resonation (?) from the sump gaurd when the creaking happens.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Finished wiring up the winch contactor and cut off, so it now runs from a remote connector under the bonnet or the unused sunroof switch in the cab.

Freelander 1 Creak from front end of Td4

A bit of digging today reveals it's (hopefully) just my new alu sump guard creaking against the subframe, round the lower arm mountings.

Freelander 1 Creak from front end of Td4

Afternoon all, I've got a mysterious creak I'm trying to trace on the Freelander. It's not road or engine speed related, can't replicate it by bouncing the suspension but it creaks when accelerating and slowing. Doesn't seem to get any worse with cornering and doesn't seem to get worse over any...

Freelander 1 Wiring loom to blank switches near handbrake

Managed to modify the switch internally to do what I wanted. There are two internal rockers inside the switch, when one is opened the other is closed and visa versa, rather than a conventional open circuit in middle position and closed either way when pressed. Hopefully that's the end of it!
