Thank you both! I thought it was a shame that a solenoid would write off a starter. Yeah the 19J does take some starting which makes bumping it a tiresome job if on the flat. I assumed the flying lead off it was earth due to the black cover but will definitely be following your advice. Cheers!

Hi all, Went to fire up the old girl and all of a sudden all of the dashboard lights went out. Found out that the positive ring terminal to the starter had corroded off. When I went to undo the nut which attached the positive ring to the starter solenoid, the solenoid cap sheared off! (Shown...

Afternoon, I recently bought a series 3 but am unsure of what engine is in it. A friend says it’s a jcb engine, but none of their engines on google looked similar. Does anyone recognise what it is? Thanks in advance
