Series 3 Diesel surging when accelerating

So not been able to work on it for a long while due to work commitments..... New tank & pickup as it was leaking like a sieve with any more than a gallon or so of diesel. New fuel pump although the old one seemed OK, new fuel filter and air filter refurbished as it has worn a hole in the bottom...

    4 wheel drive question

Managed to sort this. One of the hubs was gummed up with old grease and not engaging even though it was in the locked position. Cleaned, reassembled and all working now. May replace then with normal flanges as they don't look in the best condition.

    4 wheel drive question

Both FW Hubs appear to be locked, but I'm going to take them off today and see if they're damaged or not engaging when locked. I've not had the car long but suspect the previous owner has been messing about with the passenger side one as two of the nuts were about half way out. It also had a...

    4 wheel drive question

Not had a series before. While driving my new series 2a/3 without the transmission tunnel in place I've noticed the front prop turning when engaging 4 wheel drive but whilst inspecting the underside of the car with the wheels on the ground I can rotate the front prop by hand in either direction...

Series 3 Diesel surging when accelerating

Series 3 Diesel surging when accelerating

It does rev normally when stationary and has the solid rod type throttle linkages. I'll take a look at the engine mounts but have a feeling they have been replace by the previous owner along with the gearbox mounts I've only driven it about 5-6 times since buying it and it seemed to be OK...

Series 3 Diesel surging when accelerating

Hi there, My series 2A 109 station wagon with a series 3 2.25 diesel engine is surging under load when pulling away although if I give it full throttle it doesn't do it until I back off a bit. It feels a bit like fuel starvation and is causing a mild 'Kangerooing' sensation. Not long had the...

    Afternoon All

Just thought I'd say hello! Recently bought a 1967 series 2A 109 station wagon as a rolling restoration project. It has been rebuilt in the past with some series 3 additions including bulkhead and engine. I'm fairly mechanically minded having owned a Discovery 2, and Discovery 3 but never...
