Series 3 window locking catch / latch stuck open

Mine was a dawdle to fix. Drill out the rivet and use self tapping screws to screw back into position, thereby allowing easier replacement. New catches are readily available from the usual suspects

Series 2 why is not allowing me to post photos?

I used 'Copy and Paste' once I'd opened my pics in my usual software. I did however have to resize them (made them smaller for 'email and internet') before actioning 'Copy and Paste'

    Series Starter Motor Reconditioning

Took my starter motor to ES Alternators in Kirkintilloch and they fixed it in jig time!! Great service at a very reasonable price. So now the ORIGINAL starter motor in back in place and functioning well. I would certainly recommend ES Alternators

    Series Starter Motor Reconditioning

miktdish, thanks for your very kind offer, however I have been given a recommendation by a local mechanic who suggested ES Alternators in Kirkintilloch, which is a little closer to home. Tried those screws again and they are not budging a millimeter ---- let alone an inch.

    Series Starter Motor Reconditioning

Yeah I believe it can be done ---- if you have the equipment. Have watched YouTube vids of someone reconditioning but I have neither the tools nor the expertise to carry out at home. Also I did try to get the screws off and they are a real bugger to shift and I don't want to end up stripping them.

    Series Starter Motor Reconditioning

It's not turning. Checked all connections and it's getting power from solenoid but nothing happens with the starter motor.

    Series Starter Motor Reconditioning

Does anyone know of a business near Helensburgh that would be able to recondition a Series 3 starter motor? I had suggestion of a place in Glasgow, Partick Auto Electronics, but unable to discuss as they appear to not answer their phone

    Series 3 Front oil seal

Copy and paste the pic should work but you may have to resize the pics. I had same issue trying to upload pics but once I'd resized to a size 'best for websites' (I can't remember what that was) i managed to upload by 'copy and paste'

Series 3 Need wiring help 2.25 Petrol

I have seen question on what terminal is which on the solenoid. Surely it doesn't matter as long as all the wires that were attached to the same terminal on the original are kept together and attached to same terminal of new solenoid. Maybe I'm not expressing this well but effectively the...

    2.25 Green Engine...colour, not eco!

It would be interesting to know whether a light green painted engine was, in fact, sympomatic of military vehicles. Perhaps some of our more experienced members may be able to cast light on the subject???

    2.25 Green Engine...colour, not eco!

Yeah but I'm wondering if it was possible that LR had a few surplus engines/accessories that should have been destined for military vehicles but weren't, for some reason, required and they therefore incorporated into civvie vehicles. It's interesting that the vehicle flatcapandy refers to is...

    2.25 Green Engine...colour, not eco!

My S3 is also 1980 and it too has a light green painted engine (which is original), it also has the much heavier bumpers putting those 2 together it was thus suggested that it was ex military but on further research it was found not to be. Perhpas they had a few engines and parts lying about...
