    Series 3 Contaminated brake shoes

New shoes weren't expensive so I decided to replace them.

    Door top rebuild

I am really sorry that I didn't reply sooner but I have been preoccupied with other things. I did see two videos posted on Youtube before I started and one of them was the one by 'steamwally'. It helped me with the glass fitting but not the seal / alli strip, which he pushed onto the glass by...

    Series 3 Contaminated brake shoes

I agree about the spares and saving on postage where possible which is why I had a seal kit to sort out the leaky cylinder. I also thought I had replacement brake shoes as a friend of mine gave me several sets after he sold his Landy. When I checked them this morning I found one set is for the...

    Series 3 Contaminated brake shoes

Hi Lynall. I think you are right about new shoes and it makes sense to change them. Thanks for the reply.

    Series 3 Contaminated brake shoes

I had a leaking wheel cylinder which is now sorted but the brake linings have been contaminated with brake fluid. Everything is now clean and I have roughed up the linings which now 'appear' to be free from the fluid. My question is - should I replace the brake shoes?

Series 3 Choke light staying on

I can't believe it's a month ago that I started this thread but I have finally sorted out the issue with the cable - with a hacksaw!. I tried adjusting the cable as suggested but nothing changed and I have been trying to decided whether to buy another cable. However today I thought I would cut...

    Door top rebuild

Hi Col. I decided to buy the bare frames so that I could give them a good coat of paint before putting in the glass. I didn't want to buy the fully galvanised frames as they were expensive (almost £100 each). Once I worked out what needed to be done with inserting the glass and runners it was a...

    Door top rebuild

Hi Mik87 I have finished putting the glass in using the correct screws and countersunk the ones on the bottom, as suggested my Marmaduke. Unfortunately I can't get the new rubber strip/seal and securing ally channel to go onto the sliding glass. I have tried hammering, with and without...

    Door top rebuild

I now have some small flat head screws and will try using a larger drill to countersink the holes. I am going to try that this afternoon, so fingers crossed. If that fails I will get some plastic channels. Thanks Marmaduke. Many thanks for all the tips etc.

    Door top rebuild

I was thinking that the main issue with grinding would be that it reduces the depth of the screwdriver slot. Does the glass slide OK in the plastic channels?

    Door top rebuild

Interesting idea. I will give it a go, if only to save me getting more screws. Thanks.

    Door top rebuild

Thanks tottot. The screws I have are very small but they clearly have the wrong heads. I may go with the Sticks like Sh1t option. One step forwards and two back.

    Door top rebuild

I am rebuilding my door tops and have secured the bottom runner on the first one using stainless screws, which are counter sunk and have a very slight dome. I offered up the sliding window and it is scraping over the screw heads. I thought the screws would have been buried in the runner...

Series 3 Brake servo - LWB into SWB

Thanks Blackburn all your help has been really useful and is greatly appreciated. Col - I think I will save my money and just plod along, that is when I finally get the Landy up and running. It is very close now.

Series 3 Brake servo - LWB into SWB

No fluid in the system yet. How do you adjust the pushrod? Impressive speed which I doubt I will achieve in a standard SWB 2 1/4 Petrol.

Series 3 Brake servo - LWB into SWB

Over the last couple of days I have arrived at the same conclusion as you CK and agree that Blackburn is best placed to comment on the set up. One thing that I was looking for was confirmation that the set up was safe. As Blackburn has been running with the same set up I assume that it is.

Series 3 Brake servo - LWB into SWB

Thank you for the picture showing your set up which looks almost identical to mine. Do you think the two MC's (BR3022 & 569339) are the same? They certainly look alike and if you do a search on the Bearmach website for 569339 two MC's come up, BR3022 (with photo) and the Girling one (569339-G...

Series 3 Brake servo - LWB into SWB

I believe you are right about the MC as 569339 is listed in the parts manual under 'Master Cylinder and Servo 109in'. It appears that I need to decide what to do next. Thanks for your replies.

Series 3 Brake servo - LWB into SWB

I can confirm that the master cylinder I have fitted is for a single line servo, part number 569339.

Series 3 Brake servo - LWB into SWB

Hi CK - I have standard 10" SWB set up and I 'believe' I have the correct MC for a brake servo. I bought the MC some time ago and I will to check it. That is one of the pitfalls of a long term project you sometimes forget things. Thanks for the reply.
