Freelander 2 (LR2) Any ideas what's causing this engine bay noise please?

Thanks again. Oil is due a change so perhaps that hasn't helped. Not that it makes much difference but I won't sell the car privately, but PX it instead. You are always very generous with your time and replies. Thanks again

Freelander 2 (LR2) Any ideas what's causing this engine bay noise please?

Great explanation thanks Nodge. Guessing an oil change wont help now? At the risk of getting some flak, is there a cheap option to temporarily stop/lessen the noise? We are just about to sell the FL2 and dont want to spend anymore money on it. Sorry if this makes me come across as a bad person.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Any ideas what's causing this engine bay noise please?

Thanks Nodge Car is on 145K Not sure what a valve gear is but I will Google it. Any ideas how much it will cost to repair, and is it suddenly likely to go bang causing lots of other damage, or just another noise to turn the radio up and drown out:)? Thanks as always

Freelander 2 (LR2) Any ideas what's causing this engine bay noise please?

2009 FL2 TD4 has just started making a strange noise. Cant quite tell where it's coming from but I think it's the left hand side of the engine bay. Can hear it underload or idle. Dont believe it's the electronic throttle body as I replaced that fairly recently. Car seems to drive same as...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Park Assist Module

Now fixed with a 2nd hand replacement parking control module. For the benefit of anyone else experiencing this issue, it is both cheaper and MUCH easier to swap the parking control module first, than having to take off both bumpers and individually swap parking sensors. If only I had know I...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Park Assist Module

Thanks both for the replies. Nodge - good luck with the more pressing issues. Hippo - i'm sure I read on another forum thread that it needed re-programming but cant now find the post to reference it. Will take a punt on a 2nd hand one from ebay and see what happens.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Park Assist Module

Did anyone resolve this? I have same symptoms so purchased replacement sensor and yesterday spent the day removing the front and rear bumpers swapping sensors out hoping to resolve the issue without success, so I now think the module must be faulty. I located the module and reseated all...

2009 FL2 parking sensors. Are they all the same?

Sorry if answered many times before. My parking sensors are currently innoperative, presumably because 1 is faulty (or controller module is duff, but i'm goinf for the easy/cheap option first). I want to buy one and then start swapping the sensors one by one unitl hopefully they all start...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Does my FL2 have a problem?

Just to close this thread out for anybody searching with the same problem in the future wanting to know how it was resolved: Took vehicle to Bell Engineering today (4 hour round trip) for Austen to complete a "Haldex 4/5 Judder Fix - Recalibration". Price = £450 + £25 for a rear diff oil...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Evoque 18" on my 2009 FL2

Thanks Nodge. The Evoque set are only 4 wheels so I will have to keep one of the HSE rims as a spare, and as mentioned will need new tyres and ideally a refurb, though structurally I believe them to be sound. If I get the other wheels I will take some pitures and drop you a PM.

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Evoque 18" on my 2009 FL2

Tyres need replacing and alloys need refurbisihing on my 2009 FL2 HSE before the MoT in 2 weeks time. Not looking to spend £800 on that as the car is going to Bell to get the Haldex fixed (hopefully) next month which will be £500+, subsequently I am thinking of getting a hald decent pre-owned...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Does my FL2 have a problem?

Thanks for the replies. No droning from the rear, so assume rear diff if OK. The car is driving wonderfully without the fuse (haldex) so hopefully getting it fixed will resolve my issue. I was incorrect about the £450 for replacement Haldex. Actually it covers "haldex reset, recalibrate...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Does my FL2 have a problem?

Thanks Nodge Austen has quoted £475 to replace the Haldex. We love the car and I cant find anything for sale at reasonable money that would replace it so maybe we will look at keeping it.Think I iwll drive it to Bell, get him to check it over and if he thinks it is only the Haldex get him to do...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Does my FL2 have a problem?

Nodge Thanks for the reply. Bell Engineering didnt replace the Haldex, only serviced my exisitng one. With the fuse disconnected, is there any way to tell which part(s) of the system might be at fault? i.e can it be narrowed down to the Haldex, Haldex pump (only) or possibly the rear diff...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Does my FL2 have a problem?

So after getting my auto box fluid flushed and replaced and then adding some Dr Tranny, it has made no difference since getting it done 1 month ago. Not knowing what else to try I today pulled the FB6(?) Haldex fuse, and now the car is driving lovely. The Haldex was serviced by Bell...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Haldex

Nodge. I wouldnt go against your word as you are a legend on this forum and font of knowledge, but Interestingly when I took my FL2 to Austen at Bell Engineering to service my Haldex he filled the hole with sealent.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Changing tyre size from 235 to 255. Is it OK?

Nodge Many thanks. I was also contemplating the Yokohama, but thought they were more expensive. Sounds like any extra will be worth paying for the advantages they will give. Kind regards

Freelander 2 (LR2) Changing tyre size from 235 to 255. Is it OK?

Considering some A/T Maxxis AT771 for my FL2, but the closest comparable size to my exisitng tyre (235 60 18) is a 255 60 18. Looked at a few threads that seem to indicate it shouldnt cause any issues, but just wanted to confirm. Any body else used these on their Freelander? Maxxis usually get...
