Disco 4 (LR4) Rear Mounted Spare Tyres

Thanks All. PD1881 Compomotives with BF Goodrich KO2s 265/62/R18 now fitted, and pleased to report the spare when fully deflated does fit into the underfloor cradle. Knew I'd bought that compressor for a reason!

Disco 4 (LR4) Rear Mounted Spare Tyres

Dear All, Sorry, not having much luck with the search function, but any thoughts regarding the mounting of rear tyre carriers on the Disco 3/4? I'm in the process of fitting five Compomotive PD1881s, an 18" wheel, with BF Goodrich KO2 AT tyres. This makes for a larger wheel and tyre fitment...

Bush wires / Limb Risers / Branch Cables

Nudge bar mounting would indeed be a more solid fix, but I didn't really want a nudge bar on the front end. Yes I believe my bush wire mod is illegal on UK roads. The beauty of the system is that by incorporating turnbuckles in each wire it's a one minute job to mount / dismount the pair of them...

Bush wires / Limb Risers / Branch Cables

Did some DIY on the bush wire program. Seem to work sort of, could likely be improved with a slightly heavier gauge wire, but have put them into action already and they work reasonably well, keeping the greenery off the windscreen.

Disco 4 (LR4) Parking long term, non level ground

Thanks for the replies - no automatic Access Mode with handbrake applied, at least not on my D4.

Disco 4 (LR4) Parking long term, non level ground

OK so a bit of a non-issue hopefully, but I have to regularly work away from home for a month at a time and would like some input. Our Discovery 4 lives in a garage and due space constraints straddles a concrete ramp between the two sections of the garage. This leads to the vehicle sitting...

Disco 4 (LR4) and its (my!) limitations

OK folks time to fess up here. Whilst out pottering off-road today in my 2010 TDV6 Discovery 4, we ended up with a failure to proceed scenario...... The vehicle is fine, but when attempting a muddy fairly steep (maybe 1 in 4) and damp incline on grass, we didn't get very far. Tried a few...

Thanks for the replies, very informative.

    Wading, paddling, swimming, sinking

Hi Folks, Can we talk wading? Looking for some advice. I believe the raised intake / snorkel is not the whole story when it comes to expecting a happy outcome whilst submerging our vehicles up to the rated depth. Is it right to say that the raised intake pipework to the air filter may not...

Bush wires / Limb Risers / Branch Cables

Thanks Dippypud. Have looked through their site and once again, no photos of Disco 3 or 4, only Defenders and Disco 1 & 2s. Sent them a message, so let's see what they come back with.

Bush wires / Limb Risers / Branch Cables

Hi All, Anybody got any good tips on how to install Bush Wires (other names may be in use) on a Discovery 4? The Disco 1 or 2 has a different style bonnet to the 3 or 4, with easily accessible bonnet to wing panel gaps that could take a mounting bracket for the lower end of the cables. Top...

    Roof Bar payload limits

Thanks everybody - all good info and advice. At the moment looks like the way ahead for us is a ProSpeed rack with Ventura folding roof tent on top. That should leave the front third of the rack spare for odds and ends. I'll send a photo or two when assembled, and then another one of any...

    Roof Bar payload limits

Thanks for the replies. I think Brendan above may be on to the right answer, it's all about static verses dynamic load limits. PS: will definitely try and avoid the trip down the M1 whilst actually in the tent on top!

    Roof Bar payload limits

Hi Folks, Looking to fit some roof bars to enable a roof top tent to be added to my Discovery 4. Many of the available roof bars on offer quote 75kg payload limit per bar. OK, so assuming two bars that gives 150kg payload, but simple maths says me + wife + tent adds up to ...... more than...

    Discovery 4 slow gear engagement

Thanks for that, I'll dig out those axle stands!

    Wheel and Tyre Upgrade

Thanks Nodge68. Yes I believe that due to the larger disc brakes on the LR4 not all 18" wheels fit. Compomotive are saying the 18" PD1881 does fit, and there are certainly lots of photos online showing LR4s wearing this wheel.

    Wheel and Tyre Upgrade

Hi Folks, Looking to move from standard 19" wheels with road tyres to an 18" rim and All Terrain tyre set up. Was considering the Compomotive PD1881 wheel shod with BF Goodrich All Terrain tyres. Am hoping to improve off road traction. Appreciate there may be some more road noise and not...

    Discovery 4 slow gear engagement

Occasionally when moving the gear selector from Neutral to Drive, or Reverse, it seems as though the transmission has 2-3 of seconds thinking about it, before engaging the relevant gear. Any thoughts...? 2010 LR4 TDV6
