The Welding Thread for Landy projects

There are loads of 'quick' fixes for it. But best to just stop contamination before it starts. Roll of tape is a few quid. And will stay on there for ages. When I was an app we used to put it o everything from vices to mollies.

The Welding Thread for Landy projects

On pipe, the easiest and quickest jig is 2bits of angle, and some fatbar feet. If you put them on a flat surface, you'll get it aligned. And the pipe will stay put. If stainless to stop rusting, bit of alu tape over them will help. Used to have loads of trays when doing steel. From tiny...

    Tips on changing glow plugs

Had a nightmare with mine. Had the engine out and on a stand. Sanpped one off (weeks of soaking in wd40 and stuff), Machined out, New glow plug in, That doesn't feel right. Ripped the threads clean out. Picked up another head, from New Castle way on (cheers Dan). And fitted that. Was...

    Hacked up Seat box

Sorry for the stupid long wait. Changing jobs, training, weekly to monthly pay all that Jazz. I'll make a bodges thread. The lad who had it before me, said he built it for his ex. After finding them, I questioned if he had life insurance on her.

    Hacked up Seat box

Does anyone have experience with repairing a pretty much destroyed seat box? Previous owner (complete crayon eater) has hacked it to bits for no reason. Are there repair pannels or can it be braced? I'm not doing a full rivet counter rebuild. Plus it is having OMP seats in it too with...

    Turbo 'impeller' wobble

Cheers al look into it. Not a scooby on where to start with turbo's. Like what is hybrid? Vnt?

    Turbo 'impeller' wobble

How much is too much? Basically i've rebuilt the engine from sump up. It has fought, every step of the way from snapped glow plug (machined out) to stripping the treads on said glow plug. The ripping a inlet threads out. Being bored after putting the outlet on wobbled the turbo and there is...

    Chrome balls

Just had a look at some new chrome balls for my D1 front axel. They are eye wateringly expensive. Can they be repaired or rechromed? £120 +vat seems just rediculous to me.

    Edit: 19j to 300tdi not 200tdi. Sorry.

The mounts don't look too hard to fab up and then weld in place. Hopefully just be a case of: Fab engine mounts, Get engine in and in line, Stitch on mounts, Remove engine, Fully weld mounts in place.
