Hi all, thanks for all your inputs, one way or another I have been steered in the right direction. Just for the purpose of updating the situation, A visit to the recent "Newbury Autojumble" with my tape measure confirmed two things, there is no real difference in the roof dimensions, across the...

Straight edge applied and it's pretty straight, if anything the screen leans back a little

Just measured the door gap, lower measurement is 883mm, you gave yours last week as 808 "cm" ( presumably 808mm or maybe 88cm ?) but, i cant be 75mm odd wider so im guessing yours is the 88cm ?, the top gap, measured from the indent in the "A" pillar is 660mm, im starting to think i ought to...

I would love someone local to come round and make me look like a idiot by spotting the problem !!, I just cannot see that it's anything other than the roof is different, it just does not sit down far enough for everything else to line up !

All parallel except that the door has dropped on the hinges a bit, if you lift the door then it all pretty much lines up

I don't see that it would be possible to lower the screen as it sits on the top of the bulkhead unless you tilt the bulkhead back somehow

It did have a rear cross member about 10 years ago, i presume you are thinking that the tub may have gone out of true, I still believe the problem is at the front, if you run a straight edge from the "indent" in the "A" pillar to the rear it shows that the side panels are in the right place...

Had a go at the screen tonight, the snorkel is definitely not pulling on it, the screen will flex a little backward but then it hits the doors, it makes very little difference to the roof problem.

Thanks for the lesson, i have edited the message but my number still shows where there has been a specific reply to that message, does that need the "replyer" to edit or delete ?

I might try that later, im running out of ideas to be honest even had a few friends round now for second opinions but that only resulted in more people scratching their heads !! wish i'd kept the old roof for reference

    90 Roof

Ill check that later, I dont think the snorkel is pulling on it as it just enters the wing through a "southdown" moulding which is not currently fixed to anything so the only mount is on the windscreen, ill give the screen a push though, see if it moves although the door gap looks right ish...

Actually, thinking about your offer, it might be useful to be able to measure the windscreen surround etc to see if that may be the issue, maybe later ones were i little lower ?. if you want to text me your number ill call you , mine is (deleted as suggested, ill find the pm option in a bit)

I think the 89 one would be the same as the one in trying to fit, I would like to find a original 85 one to check

By the b pillar is defiantly where it needs to be lower but nothing at all is touching in that area, it's a problem at the front that's causing it, difficult to convey the issue with photos

General consensus seems to be that I have the roof too far forward so I have moved it back and taken more photos, if you look at the one near the rear of the door I think we can agree that it would be a problem going any further back as the metal strip the door rubber would sit on would then...
