    Have now sorted it, was the pump, installed the more expensive Britpart pump and now have good flow into the rad, engine now running just above normal while idling. Happy days.

    Yep going to take the pump out and have a look, still have the old one so may put that back on, I replaced almost everything with new while i was rebuilding to try and make it reliable and avoid this situation, oh well. will probably take thermostat out as well and just try to see if I can get...

    car has no heater so pipe just comes out near thermostat housing and diagonally across to the back of the head and back in, that's how it was set up when i bought it!

    thanks for reply's guys, chose 74 degrees because its a lot hotter here in NZ most of the time, block has a drain tap on the side could try and crack that, there is no heater pipe it runs from one end of the head to the other, temp sender new, the pump was only about 14 pounds and seems too...

    Thank you for your help guys, engine was completely stuffed when I got it, hence rebuild, checked rad before reassembly and as fast as I could hose water into it it would come out the other end, reversed flushed it as well so I don't think it's that, coolant feels hot but not steaming have 50...

    OK, reground big ends on crank, mains in spec, re-bore and new pistons and rods all new bearings and followers, engine started so easy was ridiculous, runs smooth quiet with no noises, crank was torqued down in stages to make sure there was no pinching on the crank and felt good. end to end...

    Just finished re-assembling bonnet today with all those alloy round headed rivets. I modified the round spikey chisel thing by grinding the end off and then die grinding the dome shape at the end. It's beer time 30 c in the shade today and I've got a thirst on. Happy new year everyone :D

    you can pour it in the top but you must check the level with the filler plug on the side as you shouldn't overfill, it can cause hydraulic pressure and damage the box!
