Howdy all just about to torque up all my cylinder head bolts and it seems that all of the M12x140mm bolts are slightly bent and are hard to hand tighten when there not even near their seating position???? Am I being to paranoid or does this sound like they are slightly warped?. All the other...

Thanks again James, I will be keeping the car for a long time yet. One last thing, the water path holes in the left hand side (driver side) all seem to be slightly corroded and indented.. anything to worry about? I’ve put a picture attached below. Cheers

Howdy all, I’ve come across yet another problemo whilst changing my 300tdi headgasket, the head has 2 cracks leading from glow plug 2 and 3 holes. Then there’s a small gouge on the head slightly above valve number 8. The question is... do I carry on with a pressure test and skim costing just shy...

Magnet does indeed stay. how would I go about fixing this? I’m getting the head skimmed and pressure tested I’m guessing a machine shop would fix this? And ideas on a price to fix?

Howdy guys, wanted to make a start on replacing the head gasket today on my 300tdi defender and I stumble upon and absolute hideous sight. Whoever changed the exhaust/inlet gasket previous had F’d one of the intake bolt threads on the cylinder head. I will include a pic below, is this repairable?

Cheers for the advice, spoke to a local machine shop and they’ll do a pressure test and skim the head for £80+VAT

Hi James, thanks for the reply. obviously it seems to me that the headgasket has gone because the of the continuous bubbles comping out of the header tank then over flowing when driving. Is there anything I should check first to be sure it’s the headgasket? Is there anything else that could...
