Hi, Just to update. Have taken out radio and checked behind, nothing looks chaffed or broken. Have put back the original radio just rule that out anyway. One thing I have just noticed is that the engine check light does not come on at all. Also, when put in reverse, no reversing lights come on...

Hi and thanks.... so this is getting technically above my pay grade now. Are we saying this could be a problem with the wiring of the car, or something wrong in the ECU unit itself? I know you can't say for sure, but if I could pin it down to the ECU unit, then i would buy from eBay a used...

Yes, chaps from the RAC have already been. They tried many of the things suggested here in this post including (unsuccessfully) hooking up to their computer, in the end the only solution they could offer was to tow to a repair garage.

Engine check light comes on and stays on. Radio (aftermarket fit), windows, indicators, etc work as expected. Engine cranks well, but as mentioned the fuel pump isn’t working even after fitting new one.

All fuses and relays checked, no problems found:-(

Hi, thanks all for yours posts here. My first thought was the fuel pump as it was always very noticeable when I turned ignition on, then when this all happened it stopped. So I changed the pump but nothing! The MIL lights that stay on are the orange downhill and the ETC. But the really odd part...

Checked all fuses and relays, nothing wrong on that side which leads me to think it the ecu itself?

Hi, checked the fuel cut-off, no issues there. Still no response when trying to read the codes, no signal. Does this indicate a dead ECU?

Thanks all Fuel pump was my first thought too so swapped out for a new one, but that made no difference. Will certainly try resetting the fuel cut off, would that shut off the comms from the ecu? As mentioned, I can’t get any signal from the management system to read codes.

Hi, trying to read the codes of my mk1 freelander that has suddenly become a non-starter. When trying to read code I get no signal? Can’t hear the fuel pump any more. Car cranks but won’t start, does show life with some easy start sprayed in. Help!

Hi, Just had RAC look at the car. They can't connect to the engine management, no signal, so can't read any codes. Checked all fuses, power/grounds etc.... all ok. Any ideas welcome? Thanks all

No work done on it, it's been running and starting just fine...... then suddenly this. I'll double check the basics as you say Thanks

Hi - Can't get my 2006 Freelander to start. Was running fine, then one day cranks over fine but nothing. Temp gauge is showing max with a red light showing. Cant hear low pressure fuel pump anymore which was always apparent when switching ignition on. Any ideas?

Freelander 2006 which was running fine then one day won't start. Temp Gauge shows max when turning on ignition, car cranks fine but nothing. Any help really appreciated. Thanks
