    TD4 Gearbox issues

Thanks for your reply, it is much appreciated! Indeed I checked the link, the thing is that I started off on the wrong foot and thus cannot follow the correct procedure to the letter. I did not tap off all the oil since it was not at the correct temperature, hence my 'new' list, fitted to my...

    TD4 Gearbox issues

Thanks! Summarizing, I am best off: 1 - Ordering some more oil 2 - Running the engine, going through all gears until bottom of gearbox reaches 40 degrees 3 - Drain gearbox, put back drain plug 4 - Filling gearbox with 4.5 liters of oil 5 - Run engine again, until gearbox is 40 degrees 6 -...

    TD4 Gearbox issues

Thanks for the last bit of advise! I drained the gearbox when it was NOT at running temperature, was that (ill)advisable? This afternoon I unscrewed the level plug and filled the gearbox, but after not even 2.5 liters it started overfilling. Should I, with the level plug but back in, fill her...

    TD4 Gearbox issues

After having a delivery of oil, I managed to get a bit further today... I drained the gearbox and what came out was aro. 2.5 liter  of dark brown, close to black, smelly oil. After that, I had a search around the gearbox to find the (small) filler plug. I found it, had some or more like...

    TD4 Gearbox issues

Thanks! I bought the stuff on ebay and will give it a go, if it gives me some improvement I will do it a couple of times more. I figured that the 40 GBP would not hurt too much before considering the car a write-off ;-)

    TD4 Gearbox issues

Thanks for your reply, in all fairness, not in the last 4 years since I have had the car. I have done about 50 to 60k miles in those years. Last time I used the car, in addition to the noise from the drivetrain, I also smelt burnt (gearbox) oil just before I stopped the car/engine.

    TD4 Gearbox issues

My automatic gearbox (year 02) has been leaking for awhile now and well, I kinda have been ignoring it. It has been leaking for the better part of 2 years now. Recently it has been acting up, the shifting pattern has been changing and last week it started to make a weird noise from the drive...

Rear window, rear wiper and CC have failed

Just ordered up a repair-kit, thanks for the tip! It is still opening and closing, but yeah, I do plan on keeping the car for awhile so better get that sorted before it fails completely :-)

Rear window, rear wiper and CC have failed

The car has been standing idle for a couple of months, apart from a block around the proverbial church... We started using it again recently and so far so good... Living in Ireland, cruise control does not do much, but a week or 2 ago, we doing a longer drive, it was later at night and the...

    Door solenoid/actuator stopped working

Thanks! I was thinking in that direction.... Now to either find a motor with a 2.7mm shaft or to find a way to transfer the old shaft to a new motor. I have already taken apart an old motor, but getting the shaft out is not easy.

    Door solenoid/actuator stopped working

Can anyone confirm (or adjust) the RPM? It seems so much...

    Door solenoid/actuator stopped working

Sooooo, got the piece and opened it up (it sounds easier than it is and getting it back together again will be an even bigger pain, but this one is just for a try-out, so it's not a problem... yet). Pic attached. The shaft needs to be 27mm (or longer of course) and seems that the original RPM...

    Door solenoid/actuator stopped working

Is this the right item to buy? When not, does anybody have a picture of the correct item?

    Door solenoid/actuator stopped working

I bought a 'cheap' Rover version from fleabay. Going to take that apart first to see what it looks like and what kind of motors are in it Thanks all for the tips and tricks! Will keep you posted.

    Door solenoid/actuator stopped working

Good find! Wouldn't it have to be 12v or I am missing something? I would prefer to buy the units before dismantling the door since it's my daily runner. When I have the parts, I only have to take it apart one time and then put it back together... Perhaps I can find a cheap/broken complete unit...

    Door solenoid/actuator stopped working

That's an even better idea, I prefer a permanent fix, it might even be cheaper than buying 2nd hand units :-) A part number, manufacturer or link would be grand!

    Door solenoid/actuator stopped working

Thanks a lot for your reply! I was already having trouble finding one for my Landy, used.... Will look for the Rover 75 one and replace it asap!

    Door solenoid/actuator stopped working

The car unlocks, it's just the passenger door that will only unlock/lock manually. I already figured out that it's the solenoid/actuator and also that lubing it with some WD40 'might' bring ot back to life. Would anyone have any tips as to where to spray the WD40? I assume that I would have to...

    Looking for Certificate/Declaration of Conformity

I have recently moved to Ireland, together with my Freelander. The Irish insurers are giving me a hard time with this car since it is a van and apparently it is weird in Ireland to drive a van when you are not self-employed. In any case, in order to get it insured, I am converting it to a...
