Hi Everyone, any recommendations on make of oil for defender td5 transfer gearbox ?? The Haines manual say Castrol syntrax 75w90 which is quite expensive just wondered which other good grade oils can be used.

Finally got to the route of the problem it was a bad live feed to the switch that controls the side lights & head lights, (possibly corrosion/bad connection) to solve it quickly the auto electrician installed a new fused live straight from the battery. Thank you to the guys on here that gave me...

Thank you for the information and advice you have given me, I have checked the 30amp fuse under drivers seat and all seems good (checked with multimeter ) would a fault with the indicator/horn & highbeam stalk effect me been able to turn on side & head lights ??

I have power coming in to the side/headlight switch but as soon as I engage the switch to on position there is no power indicating on multimeter

I cannot find this fuse box, my landy is a year 2000 td5, should there be one on this model ???

The last time this happened it was the pink relay which I swapped I tried the bypass method to check this again but all seems fine, is the main beam relay on the steering column ??

Good afternoon everyone Wondered if anyone could help, my side Lights, main lights and dash illumination don't seem to work, my high beam flash works, indicators work break lights etc all work, I've checked fuses under seat and the ones behind the gear stick, I've bypassed the pink relay and...

When I spin the impeller it sounds quite smooth, I have no noticeable smoke from the exhaust either wonder if it maybe the bearings on water pump or somthing around that area,

Happens when stationary and when travelling in gear, just been to Landrover services and they seem to think it maybe water pump or power steering pump bearings but would have to remove fan belt and strip down parts to find out.

I didn't thunk it would be the transfer/gearbox as it makes this noise while not in gear also may have to do some further investigation!!! Thanks for your reply I will get someone to rev a little harder while I watch the hoses etc.
