Hi Everyone
My Defender td5 has started with a whining noise when accelerating I have checked the exhaust manifold and some hoses for leaks/splits can't see any, took a hose off to look inside the turbo and when holding the middle of the little propeller inside the turbo it has movement up/down side to side would this mean the whining is coming from the turbo ??? Any comments would be appreciated.
Regards Robert

Any movement in the impeller is not good on a turbo. There should be virtually none up/down,side to side, does it make a rumbling noise if you spin it? If so I'm afraid it's boogard

When I spin the impeller it sounds quite smooth, I have no noticeable smoke from the exhaust either wonder if it maybe the bearings on water pump or somthing around that area,
