    90 suspension - I’m at a roadblock

hey everyone, been a while since I posted last! Having been to my first pay and play day last weekend, secured my thoughts that I need new suspension! My axle articulation is good except for... my springs do not dislocate due to the travel in my shocks, it would seem a previous owner fitted a...

After billing disaster, Some advice please!

So, update. Tonight’s the first time I’ve had a opportunity to take another look. The engine WONT turn over under the power of the alternator, it gives a few turns then runs out of puff. Volt meter is showing I have enough power so don’t think it’s battery related. I’m thinking best case...

After billing disaster, Some advice please!

If I can get away without removing the head, il try and sway to not touch it unless I really have too. You know what it’s like, remove something only to uncover another problem or cause another

After billing disaster, Some advice please!

Well, it was only about 2 Miles from Home after I got it running the last time. There was no smoke (other than the usual bit of black smoke due to the straight through exhaust) but nothing unusual. No unusual noises or tapping that I could tell. I may replace the rad and flush the cooling...

After billing disaster, Some advice please!

Forgive my lack of knowledge on this subject but if the head gasket had gone wouldn’t the oil and water/coolant have mixed and be visible within the oil? Or am I missled? When you say check the bores, am I checking for scoring?

Caqn you drop a gearbox down without an angine crane?

Having just finished a gearbox removal, refurb and refit just yesterday. I personally dropped my box out (whole) using two trolley jacks (hi lift would be better) and the front end jacked up for more access (and to enable you to get the box out from under the landy once removed) To refit it...

After billing disaster, Some advice please!

So... I have a1989 90 with a disco 200tdi conversion, on Friday I finished installing a new gearbox, clutch, and everything that goes along with it. Off to billing I went today, 80 mile journey from London, no hiccups. Off road course done with skipping a heartbeat. Quick once over and...

New’ish owner, 90 pickup, miniature restoration begins

A little update! She’s been back on the road for a few weeks now! New door pillar sections in place, new turrets and rings, water pump, breather kit, led headlights, some electrical work and other minor repairs complete. Since being back on the road, a 180 mile round trip in the snow storm...

    lift kit

Hey, did you have any luck/buy the raptor kit? Just been looking at the same one, I want to stay clear of the similarly priced terrafirma kit as had some bad experiences. Wondered if the raptor kit is any good for the money!

    200tdi, hot or not!?

Apologies mate, I was referring more to the word designer in a school run Mum, harrods and guicci handbag kinda way! There’s no doubt about it, a well mainted Land Rover is a force not to be reckoned with! Axle lockers are on a very long “to buy” list, but new suspension, bushes, fixings and...

    200tdi, hot or not!?

To be fair, it is just another electrical item to go wrong I guess. Can designer and Land Rover he used in the same sentance? Lol

    200tdi, hot or not!?

Thanks for your reply! Your actually the first person to give the advice of refitting the vicious unit and to be fair, I’m always forgetting to turn the van off Olin entering deeper water (not quite wading depths) whilst greenlaning, don’t really want my van turning into a jet ski engine. So...

    200tdi, hot or not!?

That’s exactly my theory! Part of my three month mini restoration consisted of a steven Parker kit, rotating my turbo housing and moving the actuator to solve exactly this issue. The previous owner of mine had actually cut a square out of the inner wing the route the turbo pipework so it...

If it snows, and you own a defender, isn’t every journey essential? Ahaha

    200tdi, hot or not!?

Correct me if I’m wrong someone, But basing it on the fact my friend has a defender 200tdi transplant, the first think you’ll notice compared with the disco 200tdi, is the defender engines turbo is mounted up high, whereas the disco down low nearer the exhaust manifold. This is the visual I’ve...
