    Understanding a mot advisory note

Chaps, thanks for all your replies, very much appreciated. I will take a wire brunch with me and see what happens. It'll give me another reason to water a mask! I'll let you know how I get on. I assume the prescribed area means the point where the rear shock attaches to the chassis? Cheers all

    Understanding a mot advisory note

Afternoon all, I'm between defenders at the moment and considering buying a defender 110 puma 2010. It ticks all the boxes for me but has a note on the last mot stating, 'rear suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive'. In layman's terms what does...

    Folding side step fitting 300tdi

Original chassis still on and pretty good condition. Of course I have not been so proactive as to look for the original locating position until you mentioned the new chassis - doh.... I'll have a look now, then order them and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for your help, Cheers

    Folding side step fitting 300tdi

Thanks for the picture. Yes, nothing there at all. Looks like the step is located quite forward of the tank. I was wondering if the bracket runs underneath, how i would drill the hole for the rivnut without tank removal? Perhaps the bracket passes to the front of the tank?

    Folding side step fitting 300tdi

Evening forum, I'm looking to fit a pair of side steps to my 300tdi 90. I want to try and keep to the original county spec and would rather not go with the 'running boards'. I've not bought them yet but looking at the fitting instructions they don't seem to show the drivers side fuel tank...

Leaking oil pipe on 300tdi but don't know what it is??!!

Dear forum, Most grateful for anyone's help please. I have a pipe leaking oil on my 300 tdi 90 and it's making a royal mess. I have attached a photograph from underneath. I've looked in the Haynes and I can't identify it to get a replacement. Could anyone tell me what it is so I can order a...

Defender td5 cut out and will not start

Neilly, Sorry for late reply. You were spot on, it was the crankshaft sensor. Took it out, cleaned it up, put it back and off she went! New one came in the post today. Many thanks for your help, saved me a lot of time and expense☺ All the best.

Defender td5 cut out and will not start

Thanks neilly, wouldn't have considered this. Apologies in advance for silly questions but where is the crank sensor located? Also what is the FPR? I'm relatively new to defender owner repairs Cheers

Defender td5 cut out and will not start

Dear forum Driving along quite happily when my defender td5 (x reg) just cut out without warning. I haven't been able to start it since. Fuel pump whines when turning on ignition but is making a different sound to usual. Engine turns over fine but no indication of firing. Thought I may have run...

Puma headlights and sidelights not working.

Folks, I've spent all day working on this issue due to my own stupidity. My front spot lights weren't working (all other lights fine) so looking for faults I thought the relay connecting to the spotlight feed looked dodgy. I had the beam on, unplugged the relay and replaced with new one...

TDCI Puma slow to start in cold temperature.

Hi Forum, My 2007 tdci is struggling to fire when it's very cold outside. We've had 0 degrees in the morning (that's very cold for us soft southerners)! and the engine will crank fine but takes about 10 turns before firing, with a bit of splattering in between. In warmer temperatures it starts...

    2007 puma slow to crank

Folks, thanks for the advice. Bad earth. Took off all connections to starter and earth connection from the battery to the chassis, cleaned them up, reattached and now starter turns quicker than an ice skater on red bull!

    2007 puma slow to crank

Spot on Gazbo, I'll try this in the morning. I've got some jump leads in the shed. In a way I hope the starter needs replacing as my wife's weekend plans often involve spending money! Cheers, I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

    2007 puma slow to crank

Hello all, I'm new to the tdci defender but have had tdi and td5 before. I've had the puma (2007) for 3 weeks and have noticed it is slow to crank. I've installed new battery and it is made no difference. It is very slow when cold, sometimes almost stopping but better when warmed. Perhaps...
